[WIP] Raym's Big Pile of Clothes for AAA

Post » Tue Sep 22, 2015 9:34 am

Yup, I haven't forgotten about this idea... it's just a lot of work, but I'm making progress. ;)

So, what I'm working on in a few words:

I've expanded the concept for my AAA a bit: now Mages (guild of mages), Sorcerers (meaning witches, warlocks, daedra worshipper and every spellcaster not member of a faction), Monks, Temple and Imperial Cult have their own separate lists.

Mostly because I didn't like mages and priests with extravagant or exquisite clothing spawning with nobleman/noblewoman garb.

The plugin with the modded clothing will be a big merge of a number of clothing mods.

At the moment I'm working with:

- Aleanne

- AlienSlof

- BadKarma

- Dragans' renaissance clothing

- Most if not all of Korana mods

- Illy's Oh my Goddess

- Plangkye's Hilgya the Seamstress + expansions

- Fine Clothiers of Tamriel by Westly (of course, since I already made a plugin for it)

I'm not sure if I'll add these, too:

- Dereko loincloths and tops

- Kathryn and Tommy's Victorian Experience

- Lord Alt Tab's boots

In particular, I've not been able to get a clear idea of what the permissions are for Victorian Experience and Lord Alt Tab boots: the readmes don't say anything about it and in the permissions DB there's nothing about them. Also, contact informations seem to be outdated.
About Dereko, I don't know if they will look good with the rest; it's an older mod and probably the quality looks less good today. Still, they would look nice on slaves and prisoners...

By the way, if someone has clothing mods/resources to suggest now is the time to talk. :P

What about Keazen's Scissors and Thimbles? She had a contact address in her readme for anyone wanting to include the mod in something else there's also Mandamus' Crimson wire

Totally left field, but what about the clothes in Arktwend? I mention it because it is a total conversion, IIRC was created by modders primarily from Germany and they may use a different set of clothing mods than used by the modders in these forums. It's been about a year or two since I last played it, so take this with a big grain of salt

Only version I found is a .exe installer, and I hate those.

Totally agree with you :) Only thing I've found to extract that type of file is something called Universal Extractor. Anyway, just thought I'd mention it.

There is another way . . . With better bodies I installed (extracted) to an empty Morrowind folder. Then I zipped the results. I can mess around with it after our BW resets, if you like.

BTW, I love this idea. I would give up every mod except bodies, heads, and hairs, just to use this without conflicts, though I haven';t had any conflicts with previous versions. Then again, I try to stay away from mods that alter vanilla NPCs.

I've been away for a bit. Is there an easy way to add your leveled lists to mod-added NPCs?

Uhm... duh. Totally right of course, I just didn't think about it!

As far as I know, the only way would be to add my lists to those NPCs.

I was thinking about an addon for MCA once this is done, for example...

I seem to remember abot has recently been involved in patcher projects for Morrowind. Maybe something like that could be applied to your mod?

Hey Raym, you seem pretty knowledgable about clothing mods. Perhaps you could answer a question for me:

I'm working on a mod at the moment that makes use of the "free" bodyparts that Better Bodies made available, but I'd like to make it as compatible as possible with other mods that use them as well. I've never really been the type to download lots of clothing mods so I don't have any experience with them, but I was wondering if you know by chance which of these extra slots are most commonly used by popular clothing mods so that I can avoid potential incompatabilities. :D

Sorry if I'm late, I was on vacation. :D

Hard to say, really.

I've seen modders use pretty much whatever slot they want to (I have little idea of the technical reason for the choice, anyway), so it's not easy at all to say which ones are the most (or the least) used.

Also, there's another point to consider.

Even if you manage to find a bodypart no one ever used, there might be clipping when your clothes are used together with those made by someone else.

This is the main reason I have to make full "outfits" for the NPCs to wear, otherwise different clothes randomly chosen would likely conflict with one another.
