I might be missing something here but I just tested the program by adding a ban and simply deleted it from the ban list in the program. Click the ban tab, delete the ban entry you wish to unban? And then save bans again.

If we had ftp access to our servers we could tell Rconnect the directory of the log file on our server, but we can't so ignore that.

new problem here....I deleted the RconnectDailyUser.xml file from my Rconnect root dir but it still tells me my username is banned....Gameservers is no help as they claim that the programmers haven't given them access to the files inthe server that handle the ban list...

This Rconnect thing is becoming a big joke

The DailyUser.xml file is a list of players that have been on your server, it is not a ban list.

then why did it lift my first test ban after deleting that file??

As I said, Rconnect is becoming a big joke here. Another in a list of things that are wrong about this game

If you click the Ban tab, do you see a list of people you have banned? If so, delete the one you wish to unban.

there never was anyone in the list under the Ban Tab...problem is fixed now anyway. Ban timed out.

Thanks for trying but Rconnect is still a joke. Sure I can kick and ban someone, that's great. But can't set a map rotation as the only maps listed are Crysis Warts maps...can't setup game rules and other related settings.

Yea I know, this is just a quick use thing so we can at least kick and ban. I'm very sure in time we will have a full Rcon method. I have heard that GS.com are wanting to integrate it into peoples user accounts. And I have heard of another guy that is currently working on a Crysis 2 Rcon program, but he said it's going to take a while to make.

As far as not being able to unban goes, I had the same issue when I just highlighted a players name and clicked the BAN button. It didn't seem to save it anywhere, to fix this, I restarted the gameserver, and the ban was lifted.

The best way to use the ban list, is to manually enter the info in under the ban tab. While the hacker etc. is in your server, it will show you all their details i.e. profile ID, IP, Name etc. Take this is info, and manually enter into the ban list, and then click SAVE.

This will create an .xml file in the rConnect folder where your .exe is, called 'banlist.xml', or something similar depending on what version you are using.

As for the log file error, just ignore it, it's not needed, so just ignore it.

I also noticed that you have a daily users file that logs people that have been on your server while the program is running, so you can look at that to get the information you need to ban them.
What I have also noticed Kanga is that when you add a player ban, it creates a file in the programs directory called RconnectBans, but if you delete all bans in your list the file is deleted automatically.
It doesn't save anything to your server though, all of this only works if you have the program running.

Yep, thats correct, it's all rConnect. Nothing is saved to the server itself, and bans will only work while rconnect is running.

Actually Kanga kicks will also work, any sv_commands built into Rconnect will not work, map functions will not work, player ip information will work, domain information will not work, retaining log information from the server will not work, but Rconnect logs work.(be sure to create a server log and put it into your Rconnect directery to avoid a warning, this log will also be empty all the time.
Most of you will get a statususerlistupdate this is normal it is a bug in Rconnect JUST IGNORE IT.

I have never stated that kicks will not work, infact the opposite. Please read the whole thread before commenting Ontime.

It is the version of Rconnect written for WARS, but with the command line change in your server, this version will work to a limitied extent.

I have kick/ban abilities right now, can't rotate maps, or anything special like that yet, but for basic kick/ban admining, this proceddure works. I have a stable connection to my server using this method, and have successfully kicked clan friends out and banned them also for testing purposes.

Just to let you all know that I got info today from another clan friend that rConnect 4.007 WILL work with C2, but only by applying a startup command line change.

If you are with Gameservers.com, you will need to submit a support ticket, and they will change this info for you. Please make sure you request the line of code EXACTLY, and then rConnect will work.

+rcon_startserver port:9010 pass:xxxxx +http_password xxxxxx +http_startserver port:64001

The pass:xxxxxx can be what you want it too be, just remember what it is. Your web signin password to your cPanel for the server will be the http_password xxxxxxx

If you have access to the autoexec file for your server, you can manually add this yourself. This does work, I have a stable connection to my server and kick/ban works.

I hope you can understand my explaination, and good luck admining your server!!

wouldnt it be easier to just run rcon from the serwer while playing ?

add +rcon_startserver port:9010 pass:xxxxx
then after joining the game in console say rcon_connect
rcon_command kick id or sv_kick id

Unless you have direct access to you server files, you can't run it from the host if that is what you mean....?

The program itself runs independantly of the game server.

No I mean the app is using rcon commands but it dosnt have direct access to the files on the server. So why use a http based app if you can run the same rcon command from within the game ?

For ease of use. It creates logs of users so you can easily get someones info if they have left the server. You can monitor your server and chat to players and basically do lots of tasks easier without having to type in commands.

I have not successfully been able to get the ingame commands to work, but maybe that is just me.

Even if you get the commands to work, I don't believe the server will hold a ban list if you ban a player from using ingame commands. I could be wrong though.

Well I see your point here about rcon chatting without joining the game itself and keeping tabs on players but basicly if I would be ingame its quicker to kick/ban ppl from the console, excpet if there isnt a way to track ban list from the rcon command.

Maybe you didnt use rcon_connect first to verify your the admin. If you ban a player ingame it kicks him and prevent from joining the server. Noone except rcon can use server commands anyway.
