Lol, wow. It's been on for 45 minutes. It's still going to go all day, but I still suspect that it won't be announced.

Streaming the panel now - Todd mentioned how his team has been "working on something for two years now", although I think we all knew something was in the works. Don't expect an announcement, though.

I'm happy to wait till it's done and done right

I'm definately still hoping. Ill be willing to wait 10 years, as long as its a good game.... but TES games usually have 4 years between them, so 2010 would be a good time...

I knew. It was pretty obvious after he said he had been working on it for 2 years. Elder Scroll 5 better take at least 3 years.

This thread is pretty pointless considering Quakecon isn't over..?

Based on the past 4 1/2 years, nobody expects TES V to ever actually be announced. :P

I agree with you there - the concept for a game set in Morrowind had been around since 1995, when development of Daggerfall started up. They clearly showed enthusiasm for the people and the province with Redguard and its comic, so I'd say that by the time they began the actual 4-year development of the game, they already had a pretty strong of idea of the game's intentions and atmosphere. I didn't really feel such a strong sense of direction with the development of Oblivion, so I'm hoping they're given at least another 2 years perfecting it.

Todd also just mentioned that they spent much of 2009 doing a "big engine redo", so that's good news.

They trademarked the name "Oblivion" in 1995. They were planning it for a while.

If it doesn't happen now, it will happen sometime. I can wait for TES: V, because I know the chances of it being ruined are very slim.

Why would you just automatically jump to the conclusion that it'll be great?
Ever play this game called Oblivion? We had Morrowind, which was amazing, then they kinda dropped the OB bombshell on us.

No, they didn't. I love Oblivion. Is there some secret group that has the goal of spreading their hate of Oblivion as if it were a fact that Oblivion is somehow a crappy game?

I think people over react just a bit about the whole "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is the greatest game in the history of the universe." deal....
It is a good game. Not as great as Morrowind, but still better than most. I played Oblivion for countless hours and enjoyed every moment personally.

Edit* I just discovered a filter! hah!
I put in the quotes Oblivion S u c k s. Touche' mods...Touche'

I already knew it wasn't going to be announced, so I wasn't angry or frustrated or anything.

I'm still just a little shocked that ESV REALLY ONLY has been worked on for only two years. That means it's probably going to be half a year or longer till we get an announcement.

I seriously thought they did some work on it before Fallout 3, but... I guess not.

To be fair, I think the next game is going to be amazing and if we want it to be good we have to give them time.

Yes, there was a part of me that wanted to see something (I got all hyped up every time Todd started talking :P), but if they're not ready to show it yet, there's nothing we can do but wait until it's good enough to show us.

I just wish we had some actual news, though, like: "Oh hey, it's Elder Scrolls: 5 we're working on."
'Cause if it's not an Elder Scrolls... then I want to actually know if I'm just wasting my time here or not.

I wonder if Todd meant two years total, or just two years of full development.

So, you think the mass dislike for OB on these boards is just made up? Be realistic. People say it because they feel that way. I really disliked OB, because Morrowind is 100x a better game.
I'm glad you like it. A lot of people did, and a lot of people didn't.. I really don't care either way about your opinions on the matter.

Well, they must have had the idea if the first trademark was 2006. So I'd say that's probably just how long they've been working on it after they re-did the engine.
