Reaction time or player skill?

Agreed. I got to be host once, for a few matches, and I was like the reaper himself, killing all I came in contact with. On that note, I hope Brink isn't too laggy. Apart from that, since it takes more shots to kill someone, it shouldn't be too twitchy of a twitch shooter. Not point, click, dead twitchy anyway.

This is what I am worried about. It svcks that Console games do not get dedicated servers like PC games do to keep issues like this to a minimum.

2-4 Headshots or 6-10 bodyshots to kill someone, I doubt very much it will become a twitch shooting game.
Of course, if you get an ambush/flank someone why wouldn't you have an advantage over him? But it's still fully possible to turn it around because he will still need to keep his aim at you for a longer period of time, which allows you to do evasive manuvers to shake up his aim and kill him. Or just simply run away =P

I doubt SMART will make BRINK a faster game than MW2. In fact, using SMART does slow you down a little, because you're stuck in an anmiation then.

The thing about SMART as well is, though, that it will require more skill than any Call of Duty or Battlefield require. Trying to grabr an edge and shooting at someone, sliding across the ground and shooting at someone, that will take more skill than most shooters require these days. I think GRAW2 was one of the latest, which allowed you to actually do similar stuff.

Wow don't assume read, there are no canned animation scenes. Actually the basic SMART button won't require skill, hold it down and it goes where you point it. Doing it manually will generally be more effective but harder,

Brink will require skill, but not just quick reflexes which is nice to have for sure, but more like skill and knowledge of: knowing the maps, using best class for the best situation, customizing your weapon to get its full effect, how to use the best perks to fit your class, and good overall team gameplay of supporting one another with basic team tactics. I like to use the S.T.A.R method.....What is the Situation/Task, what Action to take and what is the Results. It helps.

I guess it all depends on what you consider skill. But to answer your question it wont be based of reaction time as much as your ability to adapt to the situation because there are no headshots so twich reaction shooting wont be a be all answer skill in Brink. It will come down to your gun, bodytype, the way you use the enviroment, the way you use the class you are ect.

do you have proof that there will be no headshots in this game? or something to back up ur claim

They have already stated it multiple times go read up on your Brink articles. They have stated numerous times there will be no Headshots sure shooting someone in the head will do more DMG but there will be no insta headshot kills.

No OHK headshots, is what he meant. I am sure there is some kind of extra damage but I can't recall,

in the E3 gameplay vid
it took the guy a full 30 rounds to kill just one opponent and another time it was like 20-ish
so its probably not all about the quick reactions

What does OHK stand for? I'm still confused about that abbreviation.

i want to be a part of this discussion but i have no idea what is SKILL that doesnt envolve a quick reaction time. COD requires a lot of skill - u need to react quickly to shoot the enemy before he shoots you. that's skill. if brink requires skill than wouldnt that mean u need to react quickly to shoot your enemy??
what kind of skill u think is not used in COD that should be a part of Brink?

if u could explain better that u mean there, jack, than maybe we can discuss this more.

HAHAHA!!    Talk about a facepalm....but anyway im hoping Brink requires a bit of both, more so on the skill side, not he who shoots first. COD takes skill....

I never said anything about OHK headshots and neither did you. So there IS headshots in this game...

Yes, there are headshots in this game and they will just do more damage than body shots. No OHK headshots with any kind of weapon. Only extra damage.

as others have said...reaction timing is skill, but being able to react quickly to being fired upon is not enough, you need to be able to avoid the incoming fire while accurately returning fire. as much as i hate to say it even in MW2 there is alot of skill if you actually play the game the way it is supposed to be played...i only use assault rifles, usually have stinger on switch for taking down air support...but beyond that i stick to my rifle, and when a sniper misses his first shot on me, and im able to find where the shot came from, move to avoid the next follow up shot, and return fire to eliminate the target...that is reaction time and skill all together. this game will be much of the same, and i think it gets forgotten just how fast players are going to be...i see alot of slow moving targets in game play, i highly doubt people will be just walking around in the open when the game is released.
