Readable Books

Has anyone heard if it will still include readable books? That was one of my favorite parts of Morrowind ,and it was scaled back in Oblivion I hope they dont remove it in Skyrim.

I would be massively disapointed if we lost readable books and they were replaced with Fallout style books.

GI issue confirms books, and you can read them too. Also, they are not static 2d textures with text anymore, fully 3D book reading this time.

I really doubt it would be scrapped. Its one of those things that adds a lot to the game even though it is so simple and I am willing to bet that some of the devs enjoy coming up with the stories.

I'm sure we'll at least find many copies of http://www.imperial-library.info/content/morrowind-abcs-barbarians

I hope so as I like getting the Skill Points and reading up on Lore.

Really? Awesome... just one more way to fully immerse myself.

Did the article mention if time would pass during book reading or not?

Nope... But, it seems like menus won't pause the game anymore, just an assumption, nothing hints on that to be honest, but I still believe it will be in real-time this time.

So how exactly will they be different? Weren't the books 3D objects in Oblivion as well?

They were, but not when reading. Now every object in your inventory can be viewable in 3D if you click on it, and you can also zoom. The same applies to books, now inside your inventory, you read it in 3D.

I see. That sounds way better.

Books have been a huge part of TES for a loooooooooong time, I don't think they'll ever get rid of them. I think the real question is how many new books will be added? I felt in Oblivion there were too few, the first time I loaded up the game I realized I had already read 80% of the books in Morrowind, and the new books didn't last long enough.
