Erm, don't he mean "books" like, "readable books"?
Oblivion?
Click a book and read it?
Like, the text.

Not click a book and get +2 skill points.

I got that, just saying what is in the game....I think if there where books you could just read for the sake of really reading it, I think that be a news the mention by now.

Yeah, he's basically being rudish saying Bethesda made a 'mistake' of not letting books be readable in Fallout 3, and should be readable like in TeS. I suggested this a few months back, alot of people thought it was a good idea to have a page or two of magazine related content.

He's probably not an old Bethesda fan.
BTW I really preferred Oblivion's method, the no-keep-books-you-read [censored] from FO3 pissed me off.

And what's this about skill magazines? Ralos, or anyone for that matter, can ya clue me in? I hope there aren't a finite number...

Having the framework in place would have been a great thing even if they never got around to making any readable books.

I once did a (personal) mod for Oblivion that had the entire text of the FO1 manual in a readable book.

Well, it was a mistake.
A game using the same engine and the same gameplay could have read-able books but a game made afterwards couldn't?
Weird design decision.

You sound kinda protective about the idea man.
Remember, your thread was a couple of months ago.

It would be. It'd be cool to read about pistols or rifles in 'Guns and Bullets' and seeing little commercials to add immersion. Like I said, alot of people seemed to really like the idea, and if possible, maybe make each mag different with different pictures/articles and the like. :vaultboy:

don′t know if the finitive number.

basicly skill magazines work just like skill books, the only difference is they only last some time instead of being permanent (tho there are normal skill books just like Fallout 3, it′s just there rarer in F:NV)

basicly there to give a player a boost in a skill they lack, while still keep the total amount of skillpoint a character can get lower the Fallout 3, to promote specialised characters.

I have to wonder how bad 'They' shot you if you constantly need to reread the same magazine to remember how to shoot your gun.

It really could offer a lot of potential for modders, for in-game mod instructions, for hand drawn maps, and 50's style periodicals.
*I hope that functionality comes via mod or DLC.

Stripped down HTML is really easy to use, and there are even public domain books (classics) that could be added (in part, as in partly burned or partly missing scorched books); NPC Diaries, schematics... great opportunities from this were it to be done.

All three have been found to date on Holodisks and computer downloads in the Fallout series. IIRC you can actually find an instance of all 3 in FO1's Military abse.

So because holodisks exist means that no one in the entire fallout universe knows how to hold a pen?

Not really. Unless we're complaining about lack of readable books in "The Elder Scrolls V: Fallout 3" anyway. The book system for Fallout 3 followed the system from Fallout 2 and Fallout, see- not the system from the unrelated Elder Scrolls series.
