I'm working on a universal boss AI system that needs to communicate with Skyrim. The easiest method to implement (albeit not the best) is to simply have my application and Skyrim communicate via reading and writing to a text file. Does anyone know how to read/write to text files within Skyrim?

I think there is an SKSE plugin called FISS that purports to add this capability.

I haven't tried it myself, however, because it requires loading a DLL from an anonymous author with no source code, which makes me wary as a rule.
