Reading an Elder Scroll

Post » Sat Apr 02, 2011 5:56 am

Just thought I would throw this out there for anyone interested...in the Art of Skyrim Game Informer article there is what appears to be concept art for an Elder Scroll:

(second image at the top left)

You can barely make out what it says but it's clearly two words and "Elder Scroll" would fit. Perhaps we'll see the scrolls in Skyrim again and learn more! *fingers crossed*

The elder scrolls don't actually seem that important to the Elder Scrolls series.

They really are not. But why should they?

You're so mysterious and cryptic that I think you should change your name to either Todd or M'aiq.
I'm an agent of Chaos! And of Khorne and Nurgle! I tell it how it is. Seriously, the elder scrolls tell of an event that differs depending on the reader. It's not hard to say it's a 4th wall wink that the elder scrolls = the game, the reader = the player, and the events that unfold are the actions you take, even with the smallest deviance from someone else's play.

It was very important to at least one of the games. I'm pretty sure the way the Nerevarine Prophecy came to the attention of Emperor Uriel Septim VII was through the Elder Scrolls. If he hadn't heard about the prophecy, he wouldn't have sent that certain prisoner to Morrowind and things would've turned out very differently.

Is it reasonable to believe there are Elder Scrolls in Akavir? Or an equivalent to the scrolls?

[censored] Akavir! Nothing but attention [censored]s!

Real answer, there is soooo little information about Akavir, it's best to just not assume anything from them till it happens and what is known (which isn't much at all).

I'm just saying because I have seen recently that Akavir and Tamriel are mirror images, brothers, rivals, etc. and I'm just wondering how far it goes. If this relation between Akavir and Tamriel is as significant as its been implied on these forums then I imagine some truths about Akavir will come to light sooner or later.

Sorry for getting off topic with this one.

Wait...I just thought of something. So what if...this is theoretical...the player takes an elder scroll of his story and finds out the best method to beat the game?

I'm always fishing the ephemeral, unconscious, mortal agenda, when I play an Elder Scrolls game. The contamination prevention measures, the five dimensional language, navigating blind, by the sight of a thousand thousand moth eyes, all the suspense of interfacing within the godbrain is there, in my bedroom!

Unless the best method to beat the game is to be blind, I doubt that reading an Elder Scroll would be of much use to anyone but a moth priest.
