Ready Weapon Bug

Post » Fri Dec 05, 2014 1:16 pm

The game is pested with a ready weapon bug.

Sometimes your character is stucked after you try to ready your weapon. You enter combat stance but you don't hold your weapon and can't do anything anymore. No attacking, no interaction with the world. Only thing you can do is to reload a save.

The same happens to your follower often, rendering them useless. Only thing you can do to get rid of it is to ask him to "trade with you" and remove the weapon, or the bow. Useing quick travel often helps too. Using quicksave/load doesn't helps.

This is more then pesty and a well know problem on PC amd Consoles .... will there be any chance to get a patch for that because it's a realy immersion show stopper if every third combat either your stucked or you need to render your follow to a useful state again.

When your extremly lucky i have it quite regularly on my game and my brother has this issue on his PS3.

Surely my game is moderatly modded, that may increase the rate, but as my brother has exactly the same problem on his PS3 it's not a mod only problem.

Edit: Searching the inet for a solution i mostly found dead threads answering that it's a game bug and nothing can be done then quiting the game and realoding or the methods i mentioned already.

On the other hand if you don't have that problem i'am even more clueless ... *gnawl* ^^

I would either try skyrim without any mods at all on a new character. Will see, if you encounter the same problem.

Just disable all your mods, and start a new character.

As for the ready weapon bug, i never had it too. (Finished the whole main quest + Dawnguard + Hearthfire)

I already did that and still the problem. I started a new game without mods went to whiterrun used the console to hack me the money to buy a follower (the elf chick) and after a few zoning or encounters the bug to the follower happens again. I also still have the problem that first time you draw your weapon in the game, after you freshly start the game, it needs a few seconds (2-3) till the draw weapon animation starts. After that it i always drawn immediately. If you check various forums the consents is that this bug came with dawnguard and the patch from 1.8 to 1.9.

I don't know, it should be something else. As i say, i never had such kind of bug, so...

Have you tried, using the console command: enableplayercontrols

----------

You should save your mods on a folder of your choice, and install Skyrim again, letting it update to the latest 1.9 patch.

Play vanilla, and check if you can get your characters controls back. !!!

Installing that way:

First do a standard uninstall. (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features-> Uninstall The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)

Next, delete your skyrim folder under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\

Then delete your Skyrim directory under Documents/ My Games after backing up your save files if you wish.

Then under C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Local\ - Delete the Skyrim folder that is in it.
(You should enable to see the hidden files under windows to delete that folder.) HOW: (View - Options - Folder Options - View - Advanced Settings: Show hidden files, folders and drives)

Use Ccleaner after all this, and install your game again, from scratch. !!!!

You don't need to uninstall Steam.

You could try to verify your game cache files as well. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

As for your PS3 - i never had that problem on my PS3, (so...maybe i was lucky), but even if that's true, PC Skyrim has nothing in common with the console version, except the main story of course.

Skyrim on PC can be manipulated in different ways, something you can't do on a console IMHO.
