A 'real' journal. Has anyone done this?

Nothing as fancy as a leather bound journal, but I did keep notes in Morrowind, back when the journal was horribly organized (or rather not organized at all). My experiences included loosing individual sheets and not being able to read my handwriting :P

If you do this you need to ALSO chronicle it somehow in a blog. Sounds like a fun project.

I always use a notebook journal. I like to record stuff the in game journal leaves out sometimes. In this case I have a hard cover blank journal for skyrim.

I'm thinking of getting a nice leather bound journal to chronicle my adventures in Skyrim. I know we have the in game journal, but I like the idea of having my own tactile place to make notes. Windowing out to make little notes in the computer seems cold and impersonal, and I want to be able to look back at my experience with the game and feel like I accomplished something. I'm even thinking of using a calligraphy pen to make it even more pompous! :D

Do you think this is crazy? More importantly, has anyone done this before, and what was your experience with it?

Wait a minute... we have an in-game journal? One that we can make notes on?

a nice idea morgueanna. i remember when i got Oblivion a person in the shop made reference to somebody
that was doing this for that series. i'm always writting anyway, poetry, language and history studies so
i'm not sure i'd do it myself. wouldn't mind reading someones journal though it would make a great read.
go for it !!! ely

I used a mod for Oblivion that allowed me to write books within the game and hence allow my character to keep an in-game journal that I wrote myself. It's a similar idea and I have to say it's one of my favourite Oblivion mods as far as role playing goes. It's also really nice when you come back after a short break and you can look over the journal to remind yourself what you've been up to and stuff, rather than looking at the rather bland default journal.

So yeh, the idea is crazy, but it will be good fun.

Mmmm. I'd love that as DLC - but I'd want the 'journal' to weigh nothing, and have infinite pages.

Aye, I do this with a lot of RPGs and MMORPGs myself. I find it raises the immersion factor significantly. I expect to make entries for every day (in-game) spent inside Skyrim.

Awesome :D I'll ask you the same question- how consistent where you and how did you organize it? And do you have pics?

I don't know about that part- I'll update the forum but I don't have a blog.

But I bet there are members here that do!

Is anyone here going to be writing about Skyrim in their blog? Now is the time to plug it so I can find the link later! :)

Not so much a journal, but I do keep a notebook on my desk that I use very frequently during gaming. I'll jot down items I need to find, comparing gear, stuff like that.

At some point you should type up what you've written and post it here so we can read it ^_^
