Real Life Fallout

As I have played Fallout, I always wondered what sort of building damage really happens over time. Well, found out today it doesn't take that long.
Article in Huffington Post shows the decline of buildings in and around Detroit, Michigan, as a result of the automakers pullout.
Take a look. It's truly disturbing what can happen in a few decades:

Click on the photos and look through the images. Looks just like the buildings and rooms in Fallout (just must better lighting).
Livin' in post-apocalyptic Detroit, minus the radiation but with it's own set of mutants and fiends.
Spooky...

This looks

NOTHING

Like a fallout, look up Chernobyl and Pripyat, thats Fallout. My friend went there a few years ago, he said its scary, at the same time beautiful.

No one is really allowed inside the Chernobyl exclusion zone except scientists with exclusive permission, and then exposure limits you to a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
Besides, Chernobyl doesn't look like Fallout, Chernobyl IS Fallout.

You are allowed to go to Pripyat if you go with a tour guide. You need to buy it in like...a year in advance. Its expensive too

But when its in your own back yard (so to speak, I'm glad I don't live anywhere near Detroit).
Sad that we could just let this happen. We don't even have a good nuclear catastrophe to blame it on. Just your basic automaker greed.

Well besides Hiroshima and Nagasaki, here are some photos I dug up with much pain from and old thread that was much like this one. This shows nicely the destruction of towns/building cause of abandonment. Here http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2010/06/battleship-island-other-ruined-urban.html similar to the stuff up above. And though Fallout is obviously about Nuclear Fallout and it's damage, we can still see the effects of time on are constructions through pictures like these.
