real pipboys post launch

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 8:07 pm

so we all know that if you missed out on the very small window to pre-order the fallout 4 pipboy edition than its not likely you will have one. However Im wondering if Bethesda or a thirdparty company will be making any post game launch for those unfortunate masses that did not get the get our hands on the epic pipboy case for our phones. I know that I still plan to get the app and use it with the game but I would still like to have a pipboy of my own. Any one else interested in this or am I alone in my wish for more pipboys to come out later.

nope, it′s a collectors edition item after all, I′m sure unofficial pip boys will pop up some time later here and there, but nothing directly offcial from beth for sure.

I have posted in the past that I wouldn't be surprised to see them as offical merchandise at some point, but it seems that at least for now that relatively small number was it......so unless your willing to massively over pay for what is essentially a bit of molded plastic, your probably going to be disappointed.

As has been mentioned in the past pipboy plastic printings are available and may actually be cheaper than buying a offical one second hand, just google 3d printed pipboys.

Let's just hope Bethesda does the right thing and frankly the smart thing and adds them to the merchandise store at some point. Perhaps with some sort of "difference" to the Pipboy edition version so the collectors can stop their whinging. Collectors get theirs, everybody who got screwed gets theirs and those scalpers get shafted. Would be a dream come true.

I don′t see how disrespecting the value of a collectors edition to be the "right" thing? At least as far as what beth does, 3rd party market is a bit harder to control.

With a "difference" your collectors edition isn't "disrespected".

yes it would be, face it, it′s a purely egocentric dream because you didn′t get your toy.

You assume because I think everyone should have the opportunity to get one (and Bethesda can make even more money off them) that I didn't get one? Funny guy :D

And again not difficult to "respect" collectors editions (funny idea that what with all thats in the pipboy edition anyway) and still push out more pipboys. But then people are always gonna whinge for nonsensical reasons.

its the same reason why people buy sports cars, its prestige, ya might not like it, but it′s there in our society, just like you don't see devs of other games sell collector stuff separately, beth wont for the pip boy either, for the same reason.

I wouldn't bet on any further physical items from Bethesda (tho I think the phone app will be available to everyone).

There ARE and will be those that make unauthorized "pip-boys" (phone holders that go on your wrist) via 3D printing of plastic parts. I'm sure these will vary greatly in quality and price, but if there is a market for something, a darker market will supply something to those eager enough to buy.

well if its sold separate from the game then that should be enough. the pipboy edition is the game with the pipboy and I think it comes with an art book too. if they sell the pipboy by itself it dose not diminish the value of the collectors edition

And a perk poster, power armor box and a robco pip boy stand. Doesn't diminish the value for me if everyone gets a pipboy exactly like mine. But yaknow there's always those types.

"Overpay" is such an ugly term. I prefer "enthusiastically pay more than normal".

They are literally not manufacturing anymore, and have probably finished with them a while ago, or are wrapping up soon.

I don't see how they're going to magically get more to sell standalone.

Getting more to sell standalone is quite easy. Contract a manufacturer to make them. Now that's not to say they'd be ready for sale immediately as obviously they're not going to materialize it of thin air and its not to say that they could contract someone right this very second. That aside it's really quite easy. Just a matter of time until someone can fit their order. Same as anything else they sell really.

Some chinese company will surely make replicas if the demand is there. I hope Beth doesn't put out more, and I didn't even get one. But that's my fault, not theirs

exactly its not like Bethesda is making these things in their home office they contract out to a manufacturing company that makes them. why not just order more to sell on the main shop site.

Except that's not happening.

They said once they got the cut off from the current manufacturer, they're done.

Never in the history of ever has there ever been an instance of developers producing a Collector's Edition, ceasing production on it once they were finished, and then once again producing more of said items.

It's not just a case of "Oh, lets just go to a different manufacturer, it's that simple" costs, production quality using a different manufacturer, time. There are so many reasons why it's just dumb to try and walk over to another manufacturer to produce even more of your limited edition product.

Yes, they got out an extra batch, now the producer is probably busy with something else and might be busy for an long time.

Switching will have all the fixed costs in setting up an production line all over, this also take time.

People wanting more of a collectors edition which is essential limited. If only people could understand the "limited" part.

"But I didn't get my limited edition collectors edition! They need to make more just because I missed out!"

It's a collectors edition. To be collected. Because there aren't a whole lot of them/because they are unique. Get over yourself kids.

They WILL pop up over time. Some people who got them will lose interest and sell them. Just be patient.
