Real-time clock?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:55 pm

I just ordered this game online!~ Can't wait to play!

I have an annoying question, though... D;
I know that each minute in real life is equivalent to 30 minutes in the game, but is there anyway to change that? I really don't like 48-minute day games. Harvest Moon, for example, was always really annoying to me because of that. So, I was wondering if there's any way to change the 48-minute-day to a 24-hour real-time day? Or even a 12-hour day or something like that?

open up the console and type

set timescale to 1

^this will give you a 24 hour day. I usually play with it set to 10 or 12. Default is 30.

Ok, so never mind... I just found the answer. ^-^;

But I have another question now.
You don't have to type "set timescale to <1.0>" every time you start up the game, right? It just saves your settings? My friend keeps telling me you have to type it in every time you start, but that doesn't seem right to me...

No, you don't have to keep doing it, it is saved in your savegame, so if you start a new character you will need to do it again. I think I remember somebody saying that if you game doesn't have the latest patch then this may not work, so make sure your game is patched.

Just to be sure -- you've ordered the *PC* version right? Because that's the only one that has access to the console.

You can also adjust the timescale using Wrye Bash, or perhaps using other mods/tools. On PC of course, not console.

Actually, you can also adjust timescale in the .ini file itself, although I never could figure out the exact ratio for the setting and just use Bash instead. It's in there, though (again, on PC, not console).

Note, however, that the gameworld itself is set to expect default settings and timescale. This means that various game elements such as loot amounts and values may seem unbalanced (positive or negative) if you change timescale. This is less noticeable if you have various mods installed since any default balance gets out of whack, anyway, but it's worth keeping in mind. If you set it to 1:1 ration (real time) you may very well feel that the respawning of encounters and ingredients is not happening quickly enough (and you'd probably be correct, after all).
