[RELz] Real Time Lockpick Minigame

This replaces the Oblivion lockpicking minigame with a real time version based on Fallout 3 / Skyrim. Proof of concept version, expect bugs and missing features. I'm going on vacation so I won't be able to update it until December but maybe Migck will work on it.

Description:
This mod replaces the default Oblivion lockpicking minigame with a real time version based on the Fallout 3 / Skyrim lockpick minigame. It's a proof of concept version since not all the features are implemented yet and there may be bugs.



Install:
This mod requires the Oblivion Script Extender.
If you are any UI mods, make a backup of the menus\lockpick_menu.xml.
Extract to your data folder, click yes to overwrite files.

Note: If the minigame isn't positioned correctly, edit the height settings in the ini\RTLockpickMinigame.ini file.



Uninstall:
Delete the RTLockpickMinigame.esp, ini\RTLockpickMinigame.ini, and the Meshes\RTLockpick folder.
Replace Menus\lockpick_menu.xml with your backup version if using a UI mod.



Details:
To start the lockpicking minigame, look at a locked container or door and activate it as you normally would.

The lockpick minigame is similar to the Fallout 3/Skyrim lockpick minigame. Use the move left/right keys to move the lockpick left/right. Press the move forward key when you are at a position that you think will open the lock to move the lockpick up. If the lockpick reaches the top, the container will unlock and you will gain experience in security equal to the lock level. If the lockpick only goes partway and wobbles or doesn't move and wobbles, move left or right to another position and try again. Holding up when the lockpick is wobbling causes a timer to decrease. When the timer reaches 0 the lockpick breaks. At any time, press the Activate key or open a menu to exit the lockpicking minigame.

If you are picking an owned container or door, you can get caught by people witnessing your lockpicking attempt. So be careful to not be seen when lockpicking. Getting caught causes the lockpick minigame to end immediately.


Skeleton Key:
Having the skeleton key in your inventory prevent your lockpicks from breaking.

Thanks to Migck for the locked container detection and witness detection script used in his Real Time Lockpicking mod. It should be compatible and also I recommend using it in case you get bored of playing the minigame.

Just tried it out. Not bad! Not bad at all! For kicks I decided to try to pick the door of the fighting chance. I made two attempts, and was right in the middle of a third when I got caught by the guard.

I also like how it's not nearly as obvious what to do, and that the pick breaks if you take too long.

I'll definitely have to play around with it some more.
