Real World: Could we defeat the Ceph?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 7:35 am

No, not in Crysis. In the real world. Do you think we could defeat the Ceph?

I think airpower wise, we would absolutely destroy them. If an assault rifle can take out a Ceph Gunship, an A-10C Warthog would decimate it in under a second. It would destroy any alien ship for that matter, save for maybe the Warrior (which is no longer a problem, thank Nomad). Ice pellets cannot kill jet aircraft flying at Mach 2, nor can they fire a missile at something 10 miles away.

On the ground? Depends. Urban combat, we can't match them. They are too strong and too fast to kill with anything designed for urban combat. Out in the open however, we could take them on if tank crews were skilled enough, and sniper teams with gauss rifles could take them out from 1000 yards.

Naval warfare, no. Crysis proved this. We would be swarmed with more ships then a Phalanx could handle, and everyone on board would be killed.

A-10s + F-35s + F-22s + B-2s = raqe

And on the ground put some snipers with M107s. Job done?

I think the A-10 Warthog would be the anti-alien machine.

It can drop bombs in alien nests.
It can destroy gunships/dropships with the 30mm.
It can take out warships from a distance with sidewinders.
It can do strafing runs.
Small enough to use in the city.

No we cant defeat the ceph becouse it is said that normal humans cant defeat the ceph only nanosuit guys can match their power so if they came today they would raqe us becouse the world in crysis is more advanced and they still got raoed imagine now.

No such thing as gauss rifles in the real world.

We will use the power of bacteria and virus. The ceph are from other planets and won't be immune to the bacteria on earth

.........I hope it was a clever joke in reference to War of the Worlds and not an actual, serious suggestion

The aliens have advanced space tech so they would probably just nuke us from 1000 miles away.

We already have railgun technology, the Navy has successfully made one already. All we need to do is downsize to a small package, which would easily be possible by 2023.

The Ceph could probably destroy our entire planet easily from a great distance, but I don't think they would do that because the earth is valuable to them in some way. Like someone said in the story trailer, it is "rightfully theirs". I'm sure that's why they are using ground forces and such to kill us instead of ripping our planet to pieces from space. So that would make it much easier for us to fight them, although according to the crysis universe we still wouldnt be able to win that war without the nanosuit.

Because of the Bio-warfare the Ceph were doing only the Nanosuit could take them on. We could bomb them but they were easily winning the ground war because of the virus. And we know what a nuke did the last time we tried that on the Ceph......

OP: heat-seeking rockets tend to not lock onto things that are very cold, and radar-guided rockets tend to fail at hitting things that can do 2-meter wide loops like the Ceph Scouts. Hell, they can even miss figther jets, and they're a hell of a lot less maneuverable than the Scouts, which brings me to my third point: our fighters would have to enter dogfights. Which they'd lose. Horribly. So the Ceph > us.

A-10's can make fairly tight turns and can deflect 23mm flak (more powerful then ice pellets). I bet that could deal with an alien ship quite nicely, even if it needed a few runs. It has destroyed helicopters of similar size before (taken out Hinds with the 30mm)

And radar guided missiles would massively improve by 2023. An AIM-9X sidewinder can pull over 100 G's, radar missiles could probably match that in 12 years.

That still doesn't change the fact that Ceph Scouts are... erm... they can move in any direction at any moment. They're a hell of a lot more maneuverable than ANYTHING we have. All one would have to do to dodge a rocket would be to suddenly jump to the side a second before impact. Something they're extremely good at, if you'll remember Crysis 1.

The Ceph can rise those Spike-Spire things up from the ground, wherever they want.
It's both toxic and extremely hot, or something.
So... I think Ceph would win, unfortunately.

AMEEERICA! F*** YEAH!

Anyway, it is truly hard to say, considering that A) It isnt 2023 in the real world yet and B) We havent really seen the Ceph's AI for Crysis 2 outside of some videos.

Admittedly, I have run the scenario more than once in my head while daydreaming, though :P

It wasnt really ice crystals, it was a MOAC, molecular accelerator, MO.....AC......, its was shooting ice in your face at guasse speeds......sounds like overkill now right?
