Post » Thu May 03, 2012 11:22 pm

Some new ones to check out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huot_automatic_rifle; http://images.wikia.com/guns/images/5/59/Huotross.jpg. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlton_Automatic_Rifle; http://thehomegunsmith.com/pics/Charlton%20Automatic%20Rifle_html_68c5e308.jpg.

A bolt-action pistol.
Yes, you read that correctly.

What are you talking about, we love arguing about things that the devs already stated.

Are you not a fan of the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPD?

Also if they were to add the Mosin Nagant, Mini-14, M-14, Ma Duece, k98, Lee Enfield(any type so long as they include the jungle carbine as well), 1903 Springfield, M1 Carbine, M1 Garand(this time in its real caliber, and with mods for it), G3, Ak47, M-16(the full auto version not the civilian ar-15 in New Vegas), http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Browning_Auto-5, A http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M4_cannon, A http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ithaca_Model_37, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remington_Model_24, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winchester_Model_1887/1901(in its REAL 12 gauge caliber), as well as the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remington_Model_8(my grandfather owns one). I can come up with more weapons I would like to see. Also the RPG would be nice.

The M249 was already in New Vegas.

The 9mm Pistol is a Browning Hi-Power, which is John Browning's advancement on the M1911 design, so there's your "9mm M1911".

New Vegas' LMG is an FN MINIMI.

I hope they still to mainly keep to 50s/60s style guns or before. It would feel far too strange with loads of really modern guns.

New Vegas' LMG is an FN MINIMI.

I already covered this above, in another post. It's not solely a FN Minimi. It has characteristics of a M60: Tube underneath the barrel, charging handle is more like an M60s, and the wood as well is more to a M60 design, than FN Minimi.

I think that it would be better if the severity and ruthlessness of the Wasteland/Ruined City/Where-ever-the-hell-it-is should be reflected in the firearms. Plasma and Laser weapons should be fairly difficult to find, and a lot more semi-automatic and bolt-action weapons should be included.

I think more emphasis should be put on efficiency, with weapons such as crossbows/bow-and-arrow's that have been crafted should be more commonplace, since they are are obviously more efficient as you don't have to find or buy bullets.

Furthermore personally for me it would be better if fully-automatic weapons were slightly less common. It would be interesting to see a raider group attacking you, one of them armed with a rusty Bolt-action rifle and the other a compact TEC-9, so I think there should be a good mixture of old, present and future weaponry in the game.

That would be a cool thing to have, when taking out BoS Knights/Paladins. Though like anything heavy duty, it should come with a high strength requirement.

Also FYI, a compact LMG, would be more or less a SMG, and that anti-tank rifle is already semi-auto. ;)

I can buy the canon storyline about the "Chinese Assault Rifle" being a special design of the Kalashnikov meant to chamber the American 5.56 cartridge and thus leading to it being commonly found in the game.

That said, please for the love of all things holy, make it a 30 round magazine. No military variant of the Kalashnikov has ever had a 24 round magazine. The vast majority hold 30 rounds, with RPK variants that have extended magazines capable of holding 45 or drums that hold 75 rounds.

24 rounds of ammunition in a Kalashnikov variant, fictional or otherwise, makes absolutely zero sense.

It also drives me nuts to see two "Assault" Rifles in Fallout 3. The Chinese variant and the American equivalent. Both fire the same ammunition yet one mysteriously inflicts greater damage than another.

What I want to see is not a specific real-world gun in the next Fallout, but a real world understanding of ballistics and firearm design. New Vegas was an improvement over Fallout 3 in the sense that their were different types of ammo for different purposes, but was far from perfect.

There are plenty of experts in this field. I hope one gets hired to consult on the game. Details matter.

I saw the bolt(or what I think is a bolt) and assumed otherwise.

No, there should be a varying amount with something unique to them.
Like a scope on one, 7.62mm on the other etc.

Nah, you were right, I just overlooked the bolt at first. It would probably do alright in Fallout, even as a bolt-action.

I would rather have the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lahti_L-39.Which is kinda already in the game, it's what the Guass Rifle body is based off of. I would rather have the l-39, as well as this thing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_Model_1949, would be cool. There are conversions of it in real life, that are .308, so that wouldn't be a big deal if they added it in with .308. Or if they wanted, they could do it right and add .30-06 for the original caliber.

I don't see the problem of 24 rounds. An off number for some, but I see no mechanical problem for having a shorter magazine.

Thisi s a videogame, not everything has to be exactly like it should be in the real world. It would get annoying to run around with a rifle and find some .308/7.62x51 only to discover the ammunition is actually 7.62x54R
