Realistic distances

So I looked up "average walking speed" and found it is 3 mph.

Is there anything in the lore that says how far away things are on the map from each other?

I was looking at this map from the Merged Maps mod, and installing the Map Marker Overhaul under OBMM with its scripts when I came to the choice of setting a max Fast Travel distance option with the other options it has.

It says, "The distances given use 'cell' as a unit, and the distance between Chorrol and the Imperial City is around 25 cells." Before I install MMO, I would like to know more.

For realism/immersion, what would be the best default time scale settings for walking, riding, running, and fast travel in your opinion?

I use Real Sleep Extended, which if I remember correctly has a time manager included where you can select sneaking, walking, riding, swimming, inside, outside, not moving, sitting, fast travel, etc time scales.

I always play with a timescale of 10 to make time pass more slowly when I'm playing. But as you said real sleep can dynamically change it depending on what you're doing. For realism when traveling you want to set it high so that time passes quicker making it seem like it takes a long time to travel maybe slightly lower for running than walking and swimming for obvious reasons and probably half the value of running for riding a horse. I can't really give an opinion on fast travel since I avoid it completely.

Generally my setup includes time going slower the faster you go (like the 'squints' say it does :P ).

If walking, time around you is faster. If running/riding, I set the time scale under 15 or 10 depending on my default.

That was the idea of what I said.

I still need to know if there is anything out there that says how far away things are from each other. Is Chorrol 30 miles away from IC?
Should I roughly think a "cell" is 1 mile?

I still need to know if there is anything out there that says how far away things are from each other.

Each exterior cell is 4096 units by 4096 units or 192 feet by 192 feet or 58.5 meters by 58.5 meters.

There are approximately 86 cells, counting from a bit below Leyawiin all the way up to the invisible border north of Cloud Ruler Temple.

192 x 86 = 16,512 feet. 5,280 feet = 1 mile. 3 miles = 15,840. So, north to south, the game world of Cyrodiil is slightly larger than three miles.

So it doesn't sound like the world is built to scale as per the cell size. Having all those cities within a 3 mile area doesn't sound right.

This has come up before. It seems the deeper one digs for accuracy, the more unsatisfactory the answer becomes. Having seen several of these threads, I simply use what seems to make sense for me and fits with my view of Cyrodiil. So, this is just my imaginary opinion:

I run a game speed of about 10. It takes my character about a 8- 12 hour day to walk from, say, IC to Skingrad (or really, any of the cities that ring the IC - meaning all but Anvil or Leyawiin) I assume roughly 3 or so miles per hour and therefore call such a distance about 25 miles. That makes 'my' Cyrodiil about 75 miles high and about 100 miles wide. That all works perfectly for me. Your mileage, of course, may vary wildly from mine. My intent is to simply share what I do. :)

Ok well I just set my RSE to 20 default, 15 walk, 10 ride, 12 run, 6 swim/inside, 1 sneak/sit/stand, 2 combat, 60 fast travel
