A Realistic Fallout

Post » Fri Jan 22, 2016 2:39 am

Is it just me, or the OP means this as a bit of sarcasm, because of all the threads about this and that regarding realism etc. etc.?

If it took place two weeks after the bombings the game would end after you leave the vault.

I hope a Project Nevada comes out to turn VATS into Bullet Time, that made New Vegas way more fun for me.

I wouldn't mind a bit more realism though. This doesn't mean everything have to be realistic. Espacially not hardcoe realistic. If it makes good gameplay, good. But doesn't mean realism has to be avoided like the plague just because some core aspects of fallout isn't realistic. There can be a balance between the two.

I wouldn't mind an optional hunger system for an example (like in new vegas), adds a bit of survival even if it isn't much.

Exactly! When someone says they won't use VATS or fast travel, I think, why not eliminate the rest...wait, that would be everything. ;)

Realism would mean you're blind for the whole game.

You watched a 3 gigaton bomb go off in the first 10 minutes.

Forget flirting? That's not realistic man. There's always time for flirting, my son can wait, that settlement Preston marked on my map can wait.

Though honestly if there is no time for this, there is no time for any side quests, I mean you have the time to give some old lady Jet, then you have time for romance.

Actually more people survive getting shot than die. I've seen people who have tried to shoot themselves in the head and all that happens is the bullet skirts the edge of the skull. As well as surviving a shot in the mouth. As for the realism, I think people need to remember this is a game and if they want reality the can go out into the real world. Seriously all video games have an adjusted reality filter, they wouldn't be an escape from reality otherwise.

Realistically, Fallout would be done and over with if we took Fallout 4's setting. Nature would just be "lol humanity got rekt" and grew out beyond human control, turning large areas into forests and swamps easily filled with life. Humans would also have settlements expanded far outward as well and would've rebuilded most areas by now.

And still this Thread can be used to something useful, like real improvements to make the Survival Mode more intense? Or should we now all open Troll Threads? Isnt trolling forbidden?

I think you have a point. There is a "nitpicking" thread for overall issues, so no harm in creating a "real" Survival Mode Improvement thread.

However, his post was sarcasm, and I'm pretty sure that isn't forbidden. ;)

Why give Bethesda ideas, when you can do it yourself. Use a dress without any bonus/armor and just a pistol. That will make the game a challenge. For us who want to fasttravel etc we don't want a restricted games from Bethesda :-)

AFAIK the lore from the first two games states that the megaton yield of bombs in the fallout universe is much lower than ours and that the radiation fallout is much higher. In the fallout universe the world wide bombing had less explosive damage(which would explain why most structures are still intact) and more radiation(which would explain why everything is still irradiated).

Love to see how long I'd survived a game like that. Not long. Not only would it be short, but it would be frustrating and have absolutely no replay value whatsoever.

Actually, now that I think about it, that game actually does exist. It is DayZ (Arma 2), if you substitute the radiation bits with a sprinkling of zombies.

More like "welcome to Call of Doody". No thanks. all those things are a part of the Fallout universe.

Pretty much Stalker. There are anomalies, which produce very strange things, but they are well explained. There are 3 kinds of med pack, with the Army one being pretty good and the regular one OK. Apart from that pretty well whay you want, go get it on Steam.

I sure wouldn't want to play a realistic fallout game. I want every advantage, perk, drug, gun, companion, cap exploit I can get.
