Realistic Fire?

Post » Sun Nov 14, 2010 12:54 pm

Would you guys like to see more dynamic fire? How cool would it be to be able to burn down a house or a farm, or have a bush or something catch on fire when you use a fire spell? Obviously there has to be a limit, but is that something you'd like to see incorporated? Discuss!

Would be cool. You could stand downwind of a bandit camp set the grass on fire and then let the wind finish the job

Doubt it will be a feature included though

I would hope with dragons attacking towns in the game that farms and houses aren't completely fire-proof. If the dragons are able to do it, then so should the players with spells.

im hoping for a system similar to the fire system in far cry 2

im also hoping that the other spell types will have similar effects on the environment, such as using electric bolt on water to zap everything that is in it.

Burn down every building in the game!

Then what would you do? Wander aimlessly through rubble, seeling your supplies to now poor, homeless mechants?

I would also add that I would like other elemental spells to have an effect on the game for example for ice to freeze water so you can walk accross it for example or create a door through a waterfall to reveal a hidden passage way

Would make fire op and then I would want lighting to also create fire and would make anything in water hit by lighting die and frost attacks to freeze people or there armour, if they lived they would then die of frostbite a few days later. See realism is fun but would kinda break the game if you go to far.

I agree. It would be impossible to make such a thing because the actual rooms are outside the play area and the doors work as teleporters, so unless you want to burn nothing but a hollow rectangle, no.

I'd love that, but it obviously won't be in the game.

I doubt things burn down. I believe they get more like scorched and then restore to their original state.

It would be cool if what ever you hold your torch up to would catch fire. If your evil and want to burn a straw house you could throw the torch or just swipe it against the straw roof, or if you need to light the way in the dungeon you can light wall mounted torches that aren't lit yet. I'm looking forward to see how the fire works in this game.

Yeah then you can get arrested by a forest ranger for starting a massive wildfire and there's a smokey the bear faction that fights against people like you! ROFL
Yeah but I think it would be awesome if when someone caught on fire they actually reacted like any normal person would. And if it could spread to other enemies that would be cool too

Wouldn't count on it. If dynamic fires make minecraft lags, imagine a game like Skyrim. Still, it would be cool. But I'm sure it won't happen. Too much potential of "I screwed my game because I accidently set the inn on fire and burned the whole city down".

Yeah just think of the compalaints in Bethesda's mail box "I was 300 hours in and I accidentally on purpose burnt down a city that had an quest essential NPC in it who is now dead. I can't revert to an old save file, I've already saved over it"

the best part is that unless he backed up that save previously.........his house is gone forever because minecraft overwrites the same save. LOL.
