Realistic Large Axe Mod

Post » Sun Mar 20, 2011 9:27 pm

I'm looking for a mod a realistic looking but above average sized battleaxe to the game for my oversized Nord. I want something that looks old and beat-up and as realistic as possible. I've looked but there seems to be a lack of mods for battleaxes. Any point in the right direction is appreciated.

trollf has excellent retextures in http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13884 and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25309 - but then you get loads of stuff besides retextures of Dwarven axes of course.

If you want *realistic* weapons, I suggest looking at the Mount & Blade conversions (e.g., http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23489), to begin with. There are some others that are in the general vicinity, but I think the M&B offerings are quite possibly the most realistic weapons I've seen for Oblivion, so far.

Check out some medieval/reniassance weaponry/fighting pages or books, if you are not already familiar with such things. It might be rather... surprising, what (for example) hammers and axes really looked like. ;)

Yeah, I'm afraid 'massive' and 'realistic' would tend to contradict each other. Your average battleaxe was designed to work just as well for chopping wood as for chopping heads.

I already know all of this, but the thing is, it's a fantasy game. I want an axe that's believable and looks realistic. Not plastic or made of skulls or wielded by tiny teenagers with spikey blue hair :flame:

Thats all.

Maybe post a few pics of what you are looking for if you have something specific in mind.
