Realistic Leveling Problem, Maybe

I just started a new game and decided to give realistic leveling a try. I went from Level 1 to Level 2 after a little while, then after my next Level up I jumped from level 2 to level 51 ???. Any ideas as to why that happened, and is there any way to fix it.

To get the first question out of the way (as you're not mentioning it): are you using OBSE and loading the game via its loader? Also, do you have it correctly installed, i.e. both RealisticLeveling.esp and RealisticLeveling.ini in the Data folder?

Yup, sorry should have mentioned it, but yes, I am running OBSE and RL is installed correctly.

Hm. Nope, can't spot any obvious culprit, or even anything drastically wrong (at first glance) with the load order in general.* :( Worse, there are a number of mods there I just plain don't recognise. :shrug:

Sorry! Hopefully someone else knows what it is / might be, or spots something there that I should've...


* Well, maybe you don't need any PCB mods on top of Streamline...? But of course, even if that's so, it'll have nothing to do with your current predicament. :nope:


edit: I guess one thing that springs to mind is, going through all the mods you have installed that might touch character levelling *at all*, in any way, and trying to figure it out from there. But you might have done that already, and it's pretty obvious anyway.

Really odd. The only thing I can think of is if 6B Level Based Health.esp [Version 1.0] is incompatible somehow - but that's just because I don't know anything about it (and can't find it in 2 secs via Google...). Otherwise, no idea. :(

OK, it says it should be compatible with leveling mods, so that shouldn't be it then. Plus it's made by TheNiceOne - so it should be solid.

Well I did install it manually, but I read the readme thoroughly and changed the INI settings after I installed it. Could have missed something I guess. Will try installing with OBMM instead to see if it makes any difference.

I use Level Based Health and Realistic Leveling together myself without any problem, so while I can never guarantee anything, the problem should be elsewhere. You could try writing "sqv " where is "aaaRealisticLeveling" or something like that (check the ini file). It will list out all of RL's variables and give a good indication of why it thinks your level is that high. It will also list the values of the settings read from the ini file, and thereby tell us whether the ini file is correct or not.
