Realistic weight and physics

Post » Thu Sep 01, 2016 6:35 pm

Hello,

I noticed the game has very poor physics regarding the weights of all objects in the world (from carriage to vegetables).

In that regard, I encountered 2 major issues that greatly diminish my immersion:

- If you walk close to a table on which there are dozens of objects, you end up with creating a maelstrom out of purpose.

Is there a mod that solves this issue ?

- When you walk close to a cabbage or a carriage, both will fly 3 meters away.

Is there a mod that realistically adjusts the weight of all movable objects, so they move as they should ?

Thank you

Both of these are results of the Havoc physics system, and while there are some changes that can be done through mods, a lot of it is hardcoded into the game.

Isn't there any existing solution ?

I can't do it myself, so if there isn't, then I'll pass.

Well no, since its an issue in the fundamental aspects of the game that mods can only deal with partially. You just have to live with it.

258

I haven't had that problem, though other people have. It usually comes down to their framerate being greater than 60fps. This is the one sure thing that causes Havok to bug out. The only solution is to cap your framerate.

Another possibility is that you have a mod that adds a cloak effect to your character.

You mean a cart - not a carriage. The carriage has four wheels and is drawn by a horse. The cart has two wheels and is pretty much abandoned, just lying there. You're right, it does always fly around when you get too close. Personally, I think it's kind of funny, but you're right it is immersion breaking.

There are other instances of this, in particular, if you sit at a table (I think, especially in a Hearthfire house). It feels like the player character has an aura which extends a little too far from his physical appearance ... or maybe Beth thinks the dragonborn is a clumsy oaf!

A mod would be nice but it sounds like it would be hard to do and probably not get much attention.

Yeah it's exactly as if the character had an aura or hit box all around him, so that when you're sitting at a table, most of the closest stuff on the table will move.

I'm not talking about that issue with the framerate being too high, it's another issue.

I am specifically talking about the hitbox of the characters, when they are walking next to a table for example.

And the cart having the same weight as a carrot is so immersion breaking, I hate it so much.

Anyway, since nobody wants to mod this, then I'll forget about it. If only I had the knowledge, I would have done it, but won't happen.

Isn't there a mod somewhere (probably Nexus) called something like "ragdoll physics" that addresses this problem? I haven't used it, but I remember reading something about a mod with that in the name that did something for this. Maybe I am wrong and it does something else.
