Sadly, as excited to see the game as I am, I don't expect it to be as amazing as everyone thinks due to the obvious limitations set by consoles. It is a shame though, I'd love to see half the stuff mentioned in this topic.

Honestly?..

Well, for one, when I enter a City I'll expect to see more than 5 people who amazingly don't have the same voice.. seriously in Oblivion the Imperial City was a joke and the other settlements were beyond a joke.. hopefully this new fan dangled gfx engine they have for Skyrim can actually deliver.

overall better than oblivion but it will still be simplified for console players.

closed off cites once again.............consoles

very small population of npcs...........consoles

graphics im hoping that they designed around PC first and then stripped it down for consoles so im optimistic on this after seeing what reality pump did with two worlds 2.

im expecting better physics

definitely better animations since they said they hired extra people for that specifically

combat will be improved

improved third person camera...........i dont use it but they did change it in fallout 3 so they do watch those threads.

everything else is completely up in the air.

I would hope you would know that the limitations found in Oblivion that yes were because of consoles does not mean that they could not handle such things, BGS just had no idea what they were working with untill maybe a few months before completion. They are much more versed in the hardware of the consoles and will be able to manage open cities and more NPCs. The consoles have proven to be able to handle way more then Oblivion threw at them, since it was a pretty early game in this console generation.(it really would be nice if people stopped bagging on consoles so hard, reading elitist post that constantly bash consoles are more of an annoyance then anything) In other words, cant we all just get along?

OT
What I'm expecting is a gaming experience that is special. A deep game that is rewarding to both PC and Console users and gives us something to all be excited about on the forums instead of whining and complaining about things. It will have flaws, but I hope the pure scope of the game, the pushing the game to be something truly epic so that we can all rejoice in the hopeful masterpieve BGS may be giving us.

I'm not going to make any predictions because I'm hopeful that we'll get something better than we got with Oblivion.

I'd love to find lots of atmospheric Jeremy Soule music, beautiful and realistic skies, moody weather, involving guilds and beautiful environment details. In short, I want all the good stuff from Oblivion.

Honestly?

Bad writing
Weak quest design
Decent exploration
Cliched story
Average combat
Simplified game mechanics
Good graphics

I don't have much faith in Bethesda imo. Fallout 3 was an improvement over Oblivion, but not a big one, and I don't see any proof that they've gotten better since.

I'd love to be proven wrong though.

Woah, wanna lay off the consoles. I feel offended, humph!

I expect it to be a good game, great even, one of the highlights of the year.
I also expect people to harshly criticise it, probably compare it to Morrowind (that's all the rage, right?)

I just expect improvement in every aspect.
I can't say much more, because then it turns into a list of "what I want to see", and that leads to disappointment when they reveal that, oh look, not everything you want is there.

Oh and of course, OF COURSE, it'll be dumbed down for consoles, because they can't achieve jack these days

What I expect? Err...

Better enemy AI, sort of a given, it's always improving.

More fluid combat, hopefully with an option to have almost hitscan target magic with the ability to have multiple projectiles per cast. Come on, who hasn't wanted a fireball shotgun? .

Hopefully a FO:NV hardcoe mode that's actually hardcoe, but I'll be satisfied with potions and spells healing over time.

Revamped persuasion system which isn't a tedious minigame.

Graphics that are going to [censored] the video card I bought in August.

Less micromanagement while leveling, I don't really care what anyone else says about this, Fallout 3's leveling worked because it was simple and straight forward but at the same time didn't limit your choices.

Different justice system, not sure how, I just expect something different than what were used to, kill an entire town and having to only pay a couple thousand gold has always seemed wierd. Side note, the "Criminal Scum" avatar makes me laugh every time I see it.

More NPC allies that don't require quest lines and are obvious to encounter, hopefully expendable nameless Mercs in major cities or small towns that can be used as cannon fodder with a vastly improved command system for them because having to stand right next to an ally to tell them to stay put does not make sense.

And that's all I can think of right now ;p

Oh, and hopefully a leveling system that regularly has you encountering challenging enemies even when you max out all your skills and attributes, constantly two shotting bandits bugs the ever living [censored] out of me.

How about:

The dunmer being homeless beggars on the fringes of society.

Areas of the map being empty to be later filled in by dlc

Graphics disappointingly similar to fallout but still an improvement

Only ONE form of khajiit, being the one form we always see

Polar bears

What I expect to see:
-Every member of a race has the same voice actor.
-Easily exploitable leveling/spellmaking/enchanting system.
-NPCs that will occasionally rake the inside of their house while sitting in front of their fireplace.
-Short-lived celebrities.
-Questionable animations.
-Nudity mods.

None of this will bother me until I log my 400th hour into the game.

->
Prison Start
Some kind of fargoth/and/or/annoying fan easter egg
Dragons
Re-Expanded skills/equipements/weapons/magic similar to games prior Oblivion (Staves, Spears, Crossbows, Throwing Knives, Axes, Blunts, Levitation, Pauldrons etc.. )
Main Quest strangely similar to Morrowinds... The whole Dovahkin thing just reminds me of the whole Nerevarine thing (or however their spelled)
Increased Violence

Hopes:
Better Race generator that wont have orcs/dunmers/khajits/argonians all look like some half imperial.... that was just... dissapointing
No Emperor dreaming of you and sending you off to save the world
No level scaling

Don't agree att all, they will have alot more voice actors thats for sure
The animations will be much much better han Oblivion/Fallout 3, Todd has said thats their weak spot before, but now with a new engine and alot of new talented guys att Bethesda it will be magic

Realistically, I expect...

#1- To have the controls be similar to Oblivion, the graphics are better and the setting (obviously) is different.

#2- We'll only be able to buy houses in towns.

#3- If you kill a dude, you won't own his home. It will forever house his spirit apparently. (and yes, I mean ladies as well)

#4- No romance options.

#5- You'll still be running up mountains.

#6- Guards will scream "STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM!!" should you move a worthless spoon just a hair.

#7- Fast Travel shall still be there.

Agreed with pretty much everything but number six has kinda been fixed. I'll still expect psychic guards at least in specific towns but not regionally. Also, the moving items things has been addressed somewhat but other than that spot on what I expect.

i really hope bethesda starts working on the lore in a different aproach.... warning english isnt my native language but ill do my best...

the way the story is told in oblivion is lame...i mean.. all the conversations you have are closes up on the npc ( plastic manequin npc) . You dont have cut-scenes and the lore may be rich...but its all about reading books...No emotion att all , i remember one quest..i had to save this guy from inside his painting.. once i managed to save him his wife gets close to him and say something like " ahh your safe!" no expression, no emotion... she was supposed jump on him..cry , hold him tigh, etc

we dont have distinct characters.. like morrigan in dragon age or even better , viconia, jaheira, aerie or minsc from baldurs gate2 . ive played red dead redemption, mass effect, almost all final fantasy games, call of duty moder warfare 2 (captain john price!) , metal gear solid ( i wont ever forget kojima′s characters), warcraft 3 and starcraft 2 (arthas, kerrigan ) etc...in all of those games there are characters i remember, its like they exist somehow , i wish TES were a universe i could think about, that i could remember some strong characters, some amazing dramatic cutscenes like all those games... TES dont even have a single wallpaper featuring any character...

now you guys are going to say.... " but TES is all about exploration, story is supposed to be lame " meh! :yucky:

i really hope this time things will be different and we all will see strong unforgettable characters. epic beautiful stories...

No romances, no vats, no mini "game" games.

Instead, I predict a far more open world. Open cities that are at least twice the size of Oblivion's. A map that's 150-200% larger than Oblivion's, open or at least semi open buildings. Much more intelligent Ai and npc's that look and animate better. More realtime-ish combat, a more in depth economics system; more interesting, gameplay related ways of interacting with npc's. A somewhat reduced, but more balanced list of spells and effects. A vastly more in depth crafting system with spellmaking, enchanting, alchemy, and possibly weapon crafting. Oh and you'll be able to dye parts of your armor/clothes.

Falmer ruins plot? A romance option? Vats like thingy?

Dude, you called it "realistically". What on Earth are you smoking?

I think a romance option is very possible, given the most likely target audience

I expect...

1) Better leveling. There have been waaay too many complaints for them not to do anything. Maybe location based leveling. For both creatures, NPCs, armor, and weapons.
2) Some sort of civil war. As the decoded mentioned, "as brothers wage war," I think there will be different Nord clans that have a lot of tension that will lead to war.
3) New material types leading to new armor and weapons.
4) Better NPCs all around. Better AI and faces.
5) Dragon(s) (duh)
6) A severed Nord's leg (Easter Egg)
7) Being able to toggle the quest and map markers on and off.
