Realistically ... what do you expect from TESV

Post » Wed Jun 09, 2010 11:35 pm

So what do you honestly expect to see in TESV. If you had to put money down on it's features, content and appearance what would you wager, and what would you wager on. Try your best to subdue your overzealous expectations and think realistically.

I'll start:

I'd bet a million septims ;) Skyrim has:

A Vats type feature (maybe for finishing moves or magic)
A romance option
Companions with they're own side quests
Dual Wielding weapons
Prettier faces
Better animations
Locations that aren't covered in snow
An invasion from akavir as the main plot
You will be the dragon born
Werewolfs and vampires
Falmer ruins kinda like the aylieds
The plot heavily involves tiber septim

I'd bet Skyrim doesn't have
Dismemberment
Best races with Morrowind style animation
Your character starting in jail (betting they're going to change it up)
A survival game mode (like new vegas)

No way, VATS was a solution to bring back the feel of turn based combat from the old Fallout games. TES has always been about real-time first person actions with statistics to back up damage, etc. It' would be a different type of game all together!

Honestly?

Bad writing
Weak quest design
Decent exploration
Cliched story
Average combat
Simplified game mechanics
Good graphics

I don't have much faith in Bethesda imo. Fallout 3 was an improvement over Oblivion, but not a big one, and I don't see any proof that they've gotten better since.

I'd love to be proven wrong though.

I dunno ... I think Todd fell in love with it and it's going to be making some sort of return. Not vats per say but maybe hitting a button a certain time will allow a finishing move to a body part, or magic will have a vats type targeting system.

Again just my prediction

I doubt it. And if your wrong, you owe me one million septims, I don't mean the coins, I mean actual Septims.

I never really had to use vats, but then again I played on the pc where mouse aiming was more accurate than vats if you are good.

I expect it to have

- overwhelming graphics
- a well-designed leveling system (in both ways, skills & leveling up as well as leveling of the monsters)
- perfected Radiant AI
- shadow effects on everything and by everything
- a spectacular magic system
- more stealth elements
- unique dungeons and landscape
- more city life
- great battles without lagging
- an epic story about the Akaviri invading Tamriel and impacts on the normal life because of this

A land mass no larger than Oblivion, probably with fewer cities, but with more cultural diversity between them.

A similar number of skills, but with improved leveling.

Significantly upgraded graphics, particularly animation and lighting.

Still no real-time climbable ladders :)

I think you hit the nail on the head, more or less I believe they improved on most of these aspects.

The whole size of Skyrim bigger than oblivion I'm not sure of, but it would be nice

Excellent Graphics
More Depth( I think they had to of listened to the outcry of the loss of some of Morrowind's magic)
Improved RAI
Seamless indoor and outdoor loading/streaming, meaning I can shoot an arrow through a window at someone inside
Great Gameplay
Tons of Lore
Hundreds of Hours of Gameplay
Great Mods

overall better than oblivion but it will still be simplified for console players.

closed off cites once again.............consoles

very small population of npcs...........consoles

graphics im hoping that they designed around PC first and then stripped it down for consoles so im optimistic on this after seeing what reality pump did with two worlds 2.

im expecting better physics

definitely better animations since they said they hired extra people for that specifically

combat will be improved

improved third person camera...........i dont use it but they did change it in fallout 3 so they do watch those threads.

everything else is completely up in the air.
