Really, Bethesda, Really?

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 12:34 am

Oh how nice. Another troll thread. I guess we should expect to see a marked increase in this the months leading up to Skyrim's release.

Nobody is happy about the price of games, but saying its ok for console games to be 60, but pc HAS to be 50 just because you want to save 10 dollars is pretty hypocritical.

If anything you should be more than happy to pay the same as the console, considering all the perks there are to the pc version. If anything you should be getting charged more.

I wish all games were 10 dollars, but then I realize that this is 2011 and I should grow up.

agreed, but there is just one thing wrong with what you just said.

Yes, he missed the part about the poptarts. All good games have poptarts.

Also, I'm honestly surprised that nobody has taken your username until now.

You hate Todd Howard because the game is $10 more? A marketing decision that he probably didn't even make?

Lame.

I'm under the assumption that PC gamers who already spend an insane amount of money for their souped up computer wont mind forking out an extra 10 bucks for Skyrim.

I think think that pc and console games should be both 50$. Why is the PC cheaper than the console versions in the first place?

Console games are $10 more expensive due to the developer license fee MS/Sony/whoever charges, which isn't applicable to PC.

Maybe if it was another game I would care. Bethesda is the last pinnacle of PC gaming as it should be, everyone else sold out to the console devil.

Portal 2 is 10 hours of entertainment.

Skyrim will be 300+ hours (on the PC)

60$ is a bargain.

The price of the product should at least match its quality. If Skyrim is going to be more expensive to purchase, then it should give better stability, gameplay, story, visuals. Note I placed stability first; if I have to shell out more of my hard earned money for this game, they better not use me as a beta tester. But considering Skyrim has been development for a while, I have high hopes that they give out a more polished game rather than a sequel money grab. Anyway $60-$70 dollars can be a fair price if the game is really good. I'd rather pay for premium craftsmanship that lose some money on absolute crap.

I would pay $1,000,000 for Skyrim. I would give up my first-born child (if I had one) for Skyrim. I would sell my soul for Skyrim. If Todd Howard asked me to run around in my underwear yelling " By Azura, By Azura, By Azura!" I would do it. :ahhh:

So no, I don't think $60 is too much for a TES game.

 I guess someone has to complain about something. As other people have said, it's $10 get over it. Since seeing how upset you are, are you not going to bother with the game? Geez what are you going to do with that extra $10?

1. Bias poll
2. 10 bucks, big deal. If you can afford a gaming PC, you can pay an addition 10 bucks for the game.
3. There's no reason to hate Todd or any staff member of Bethesda because they are working thier butts off making a brilliant game, and if they want to make the greatest game ever 10 bucks more, so be it, I'm willing to pay an extra 50.

Have a nice day.

Don't care. When it strikes midnight on 11/11/11, I'll have the game in hand and driving home, then playing it all night. That's what matters.

Holy [censored], those poll results are outrageous. They make enough as it is with $50 bucks a game. They actually get more revenue per game with 50 dollar PC games than 60 dollar console games. If you want to pay more to support Bethesda, then there is the collector's edition available to piss away your money. That is the whole point.

There really should be a sliding scale where you can set the price you with to pay, like the humble bundle. That was the greatest method of buying games I have ever used.

Why do gamers as a group seem to feel so indebted to the companies they support? I mean, do people really want to set this sort of precedent? Beth makes the same profit off a PC sale as they do a console sale. The console is priced higher solely due to licensing fees. Beth is certainly not struggling. They are a [censored] powerhouse in the industry, one of the biggest names around. This isn't a charity event. Beth will gouge you for every penny they think they can get away with, that's business. Your responsibility as a consumer is too say "[censored] that!"

Is this confitmed? Well I don't like paying more but I buy so few games these days that it will not be a problem. Most of my purchases are from GOG anyway;

But is greed the only reason for an extra $10 or not?

will your mom really not loan you an extra $10 to buy the game?

also the prices aren't even [censored] set yet jesus christ they're estimates. amazon lists Mass Effect 3 as $60 on PC and 360 and you know damn well EA is going to jack the console price to $70 like every other game they've put out in the last two years. wait until it's actually listed on steam as $60 before you start whining and making people hate PC gamers even more.

also games are like $100 in australia for NO [censored] REASON so deal with it, kid.

Just curious, whats with all the valve hate? They make quality games.

Also, I think its a little lame that the price is 60 instead of the usual 50. The only other game to do this (to my knowledge) was COD which is [censored] infamous for milking money.

On the other hand the amount of playing time I get from TES justifies it a little.

Valve doesn't "make quality games" for over half a decade. They buy them up. It's like saying EA makes great games because they bought up developer x/y/z.

Mainstream PC games are 50$ when they come out... end of discussion.

PC games get to be 60$ when console games are 70$.

There is no excuse for pricing the game at 60$ for the PC... you are not paying any licensing fees for the PC! HELLO! And I know you are in no need of increasing revenue.

Todd, I hate you. :swear: And if you so much as [censored] think about selling cut out portions of the game back to us as DLC... :gun:

Valve is pricing Portal 2 at 45$ pre-order special. Valve gives us DLC for FREE! Why don't you be more like them!

Seriously dude?

Try being in Australia. Our games cost double yours. And our dollar is almost identical.

Would everyone that said "It's just $10, who cares?" or some derivation thereof please pm me. I will give you my info so you can each paypal me $10.
You don't want to? Why not, you cheap [censored]s?
To everyone defending a publisher's price-gouging, pretend I'm a large corporation that wants to bend you over.
Are you pretending?
Good.
Now you can say how lucky everyone should feel for getting to send me my $10.
