Really, Bethesda, Really?

Mainstream PC games are 50$ when they come out... end of discussion.

PC games get to be 60$ when console games are 70$.

There is no excuse for pricing the game at 60$ for the PC... you are not paying any licensing fees for the PC! HELLO! And I know you are in no need of increasing revenue.

Todd, I hate you. :swear: And if you so much as [censored] think about selling cut out portions of the game back to us as DLC... :gun:

Valve is pricing Portal 2 at 45$ pre-order special. Valve gives us DLC for FREE! Why don't you be more like them!

PC games have been 50 bucks for a long time, but theire has been global money inflation for the past 20 years(60 bucks today is like 40 bucks 10-20 years ago) and 10 years ago piracy was pretty much unheard of.

No problem whatsoever paying 60 bucks for a game that has as much to do as Oblivion, hell I'd pay a lot more yet if I knew the constructor set was aqwesome and easy.

Valve makes ok games, Beth makes games I keep on playing.

I'll let it slide if Skyrim blows my mind.

But I hope the raising prics of games doesn't continue unless they compensate with more content. Really the game just has to be worth it.

I think think that pc and console games should be both 50$. Why is the PC cheaper than the console versions in the first place?

Digital copies don't require a physical medium to spend money on. At least that's how I rationalize it.

Just a note on Valve, they're printing money with Steam, and they can use their games as advertising for Steam rather than for profits.

The whole game-pricing structure is screwed up. All publishers could solve a lot of their "Used games" problems if they would tier down prices like, well, everything else in the world.

New Release, 59.99

6months Later, 39.99

12Months later 24.99

24Months Later 19.99

I just realized this guy compared portal(gimmicky FPS) to TES(old school RPG).

That's like comparing a 2010 geo metro to a shelby mustang.

Prices for games have held pretty steady at $50 for a loooong while. I remember NES carts going for $50.

Game dev costs for big ones like this are going up and up. I can see quite well the reason for price increases.

Don't like this trend. They charge this much because they can. Problem is, it's hard to turn down a game from a devoted developer like Bethesda. I still think pc version should be $50.

Also (for discs) they don't have to compress the data on every disc like for a 360, at least not in the same way as it is handled by an install .exe. Plus cheaper packaging (thinner matte black plastic, even if the box is a bit larger, though you don't see that too often anymore). Plus the fact they don't make as many copies because of the popularity of digital downloads.

Either way. 10 bucks.

Development costs are going up. $60 is fine. I remember paying $70 for an N64 cartridge.

And strangely, two years after Oblivion was out, one could indeed find it on the shelf as a GOTY edition for $20. So I think they're already doing this now. and that was with SI and KOTN thrown in to boot.

You'd think with free mods pc gamers wouldn't have that much to complain about. Anyway, Im getting it for a 360 so I don't really have much to worry about. 60 bucks for me.

Good god, what are the PC gamers going to do? They have to pay 10 extra dollars to a game company they love anyway? Most people won't have a problem with it, and for the ones that do, get the hell over it. Its ten bucks, not a huge difference. If 10 bucks is really going to determine if you buy this game, thats your loss.
