I used to be able to play oblivion with no problems at all but now when I play it no matter what settings I try to put the game on it goes awfully slow and is very choppy. I'm able to play other games perfectly fine without problems. I recently re installed windows 7, could that have any effect to it? Thank you (:

Try deleting the .ini file in your My Documents\My Games\Oblivion folder....it is the configuration settings file called Oblivion. Delete it, then refire up the game so a new one gets generated.

Older processor, and win7..... page file usage is a tad high..... might try a http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796 and see if that makes a difference.

I am actually buying a new processor today at one point in time, do you have any recommendations because I'm slightly clueless when it comes to processors

Your machine has a socket AM2 motherboard, but, I am unable to come up with just which processors it will support. Might wanna give Acer tech support a call, and ask just how far you can go. I see one owner has put a amd 5000+(dual core, 2.6), and the implications of his post was that he could have gone faster...... but, that might have required a bios update. (not something I recommend for the inexperienced.....)

I'll just wait then and build a new computer, everything is working fine for now thanks for your help (:
