I'm kind of confused if I did the quests in the wrong order.

I already completed the Letter quest from Helseth. Upon completing the Robe quest from Elysana, I get a message that pops up saying that "If only you were a bit quicker, my sister Elysana is betrothed, etc. etc. Will the book quest still work if I got this message? Where is this message even from? Like I said, it pops up right after the ending text from the Robe quest.

These are optional quests anyways. But if you do Elysana's Robe, then you cannot do Helseth's Blackmail, which means you cannot do Barenziah's Book.

edit: wait, I totally didn't read all that before posting. So you did Helseth's Blackmail and then Elysana's Robe quest? I was under the impression that you couldn't do both of them. Hrm...

Technically what I did was start the Robe quest, started and finished the Letter quest, and then finished the Robe quest. I'm glad I'm not the only confused one about this!

Well, there's no harm is seeing what happens regarding the book quest. Again, these are optional quests.

You can do both of them so long as you do them in that order. You can't do (or even receive) Helseth's quest after Elysana's, because (spoiler just in case someone's reading this thread who hasn't done the quests, for whatever reason)




I'm not sure what happens if you try to do it in the messy order given, but I doubt it results in anything good. Judging from the message you gave, it sounds like the game thinks you failed Helseth's quest (I've never failed that one so I don't know what the actual message would be), so no Barenziah quest, unfortunately.
