I really hope Skyrim has 'collect 100 of so and so' quests..

Post » Sat Jul 30, 2011 4:46 am

In Fallout:New Vegas.. one quest involved collecting 100 pieces of scrap metal for the gun runner trader...

what I really liked about this quest was that there was no quest marker, no complex instructions... it was more or less a saluaging quest.

I hope skyrim has something similar.. perhaps collecting 100 of a certain plant for an alchemist.

I felt like the guy who gave you that should of had a freaking ! above his head. I actually had to check to see if i wasent playing WoW with the fact it was a worthless grinding quest.

While I loved Nirnroot just as much as the next guy, the reward you were given by the alchemist was far more underwhelming than the journey itself. If I go out of my way to collect a particular item, I'd prefer for it to be worthwhile.

Exactly! Damn I hated that nirnroot quest in Oblivion because of that.

Also at OP: Have you watched the gameplay video? the player has a NIRNROOT in his inventory. Name, design and weight. So yeah, it's confirmed.

same here, it was the biggest wild goose chase in the game, i was expecting some awesome reward and its just a not that decent potion.

Id also like this kind of quest, but say if it was like collect 50 or less iron swords for some random blacksmith id be fine...I'm a horder anyway. And it'd give me an excuse just to collect even more, and draw out the game that much more.

and the guy who gives you quest should have a huge, shining ! above his head

what? this is not MMORPG.

yes, MMORPG always have "collect x number of y" or "kill x number of y monster" because they can't give you unique quest each for player.

I can't remember Morrowind had any of them. (Well you did in Tribunal the museum wich bought artifacts)
Oblivion had.. so far I can recall.. the Nirnroot and the Ayleid Statues (and in The Shivering Isles the Oddities)
Fallout 3 had quite some random loot things which could be collected like photographes and scrap metal.

So those kinda quests have grown with the years.... so Skyrim may even have more.. mayby with propper rewards too this time.

Nirnroot is confirmed back but there is all the chance it may just be a normal item this time around. The massive collect X of Y quests are generally done on the side of everything else.

Not so much a shopping list quest.

Instead, how about just adding better things in the wilderness. More little treasure boxes, notes, skeletons of lost exploreers, random sword stuck in the stone, etc. Either that or make better and more nature. I'm a nature nerd, and can spend hours in real lie just wandering about looking at things (flies in a web, stream flow, snow fleas, etc.) Add soem of those as well

I hate those quests, they are boring except maybe 1 or 2 like when you had to get the sunset sarsparila bottles as there was more going on.

i want to see something akin to the museum of oddities in shivering isles. that was a blast looking for that stuff and seeing the tour when you finally got everything.
