I really hope Zenimax doesn't allow this.

This wil end up in everyone using a #$% load of addons to keep up with the rest. That wil make the game so much better then it is originaly! Cant wait to get my screen fillled with rainbow #$%^.

And the sound turned into some Dial modem trying to connect, with all the warning sounds.

In the end youre so used to them you cant remember the last time you played without, adding nothing whatsoever to your gaming expirience.

I wish the creators of all these overpowered addons would just make something usefull instead of this garbage

Is it just me or is the problem being discussed largely down to a 3rd party program potentially being used to auto interrupt etc, in which case I would be surprised if TESO was the first MMO to ever not have 3rd party programs detailed in the EULA.

Automation has always been a bannable offense in every AAA MMO, the only question is will this be monitored and bans handed out in a timely fashion?

Visual clues are given for any casting time spell. Not only that there's an option to turn on a message that tells you to dodge / block / interrupt if you target casts a spell, or charges an ability, with the relevant choice being stated (ie. an uninterruptible spell will tell you to dodge rather than interrupt or block).

The only advantages these addons give so far over the base UI is the ability to see buff / debuff timers (which for many spells is easily visible - though not all) and enemy resource pools (which I agree should be limited, but ZOS disagree and it's their design choice).

In the end though while it does have it's benefits very few people will use them in a beneficial or informed manner. Most people won't take advantage of the additional information or will badly attempt to do so. Paying attention and teamwork will generally be more beneficial than the additional information, especially as player numbers increase and overall strategy plays a larger role than individual ability.

FTC is just using combat logs that were in the game and ZOS made hidden. If they wanted it removed they could.

As for PvP, so long as gankers are allowed to exist, I've got no issue with add-ons that would allow lower level PvE types who want no part of PvP to spot and/or kill them.

Then we have different ideas of what an issue is.

If 10 people decide to go and kill that lone player no mod in the world will save him.

In my opinion it is. the devs made the api available to be modded on and as long as that's the case I will use every add-on possible to give me more knowledge so I can more effectively kill my opponents.

Oh I don't know about that. Give me enough mods, and I'll one-button kill the lot of them.

That is a bad idea. What they need to do is rewrite the API so they cant make mods like this.

Even though I've already done so in several places, I'll just drop a post here to show my support for the arguments the OP is making.

I say no to mandatory mods in competitive gameplay. Add-ons should provide no information about your target that isn't normally available already. Add-ons should not be considered free from scrutiny "because they are part of the game." They should be strictly optional and cosmetic.

FYI... Some of my friends that was undecided to buy ESO made this mod decide that they do not what to play the PC version of the game at all. So no matter what you think about mods ZOE are loosing potential costumers for allowing things like this in there game.

This topic has exploded on most main gaming boards. I tried to debate this intelligently before. Maybe folks will take a good hard look at where we are going to end up in end game pvp.

Be careful what you ask for.

Totally agree that they need some kind of limits on these UI add ons. A think a basic limit would be "can't give any information about another person's character beyond the standard UI."

I also think there need to be certain campaigns, especially the competitive ones but perhaps some more casual ones as well, where add-ons are disabled.

Okay, so most of the whining about add-ons appears to be from PvP players.

Any PvE players want to throw in their two cents?

What does PvE players have to do with this? The mods does not care if you are in PvP or PvE when you use them. So if its bad for PvP or PvE does not matter. If it's bad for one aspect of the game it has to go.

There is no low level PvP. All PvP is done in cyrodil which means no one can come gank you in low level areas.

As others have stated, thee are (at least) two separate issue here: Info mods and automation scripts. I don't like automation scripting and i think ti should not be allowed at release. The key to successful PvP is rapid identification of the opponants intentions and effectively countering it. You shouldn't need a script for that.

In terms of the info mods, it is exceptionally difficult to play a healer in a raid without that kind of information. That said, some information, especially predictive information concerning bos mobs and PvP opponants, should not be available, IMO.
