I really hope Zenimax doesn't allow this.

I really hope Zenimax isn't serious.....any add-on that gives Person A that is using it an advantage against Person B who is not using it is pretty much a cheat. Thats what a cheat is...something that gives 1 player an unfair advantage over another that is NOT part of the base game.

If this is allowed to stand, there will be auto-interupters on launch day guaranteed....Auto Hotkey will make this trivial to pull off.

Zenimax...players should not have access to enemy HP, Stats, and Buffs via the API....this is just prime for brewing cheaters.....thats all this will do.....it will be simple to write such Macros with AutoHotkey that can pick up whats on my screen....and the only way to stop this would be to include some kid of Spyware that looks at running processes and bans users who use such processes (Re-naming the .EXE will change the cryptohash and file name, so this probably won't be that effective)

I am all for Modifying the UI to make it look better, to make it more user friendly, but mods that give information that becomes an advantage for 1 player over another who chooses to use the stock game UI is just not fair....a person should not be forced to use a mod in order to be competitive, and thats exactly what this mod will do in its current form.

Again im all for modding to make an easier to use UI, but im not in favor of mods that gives those who use it an advantage over those who don't....and im definitly not for exposing enemy information via the API that will allow such simple toos as AHK to programatically read what is being said in that text, and automate key presses when player a begins to cast specific spell....

If this is allowed to stand, I just won't PVP in this game I don't think...it would take me a lot to....because why bother knowing everyone using a mod that gives them tons of extra info...that could be used to auto-macro that's not part of the base game.

I must say the only good thing going for the Xbox One and PS4 version of this game is that these types of things (mods that gives even the small slightest advantage over someone) simply won't happen on those platforms.

Again I am all about modding, I am all about customizing the UI to make it better, easier to use, etc....however we can't have a mod that makes it futile to play PVP without it....You should not be at a disadvantage by using the stock UI.

My biggest thing though is the AHK, if this is allowed to stand...guranteed there will be aut-macro interupters day one...its a certainty...AHK is a relativly easy language IMO and it will be possible to read the scren and perform certain keypress depending on the text being spit out of that mod....and AHK doens't need the ESO API, its just going to read the output on the screen coming from that mod.

Zenimax....do the right thing...remove the enemy health, status, etc information from the API...its just a glaring hole that will be waiting to be abused.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely

Woody

Information addons are all great. That automating crap is hacking and should be bannable.

If pvp becomes plagued by automating addons, aim bots (or whatever actions can be automated in this game) and hacks, game will go f2p much faster than 3 weeks. And this comes from someone who doesn't mind mods, really likes eso and is not particularly interested in going back to wow.

Ya, I don't mind mods either, but automating play should be bannable.

Edit: this add-on doesn't seem to automate play though, fwiw

Even tho i won't stop playing the game because of the mods, I agree with the OP, all players should use the same UI and no one should feel forced to use a modded UI to be competitive.

This is why you play it on your ps 4 or xbox one folks. Or better yet wait untill a real MMORPG comes out.

Personally, in this weekend beta I felt the health bars with numbers lacking - It can't be that hard for Zenimax to implement these details.

I'm more curious why Zenimax are trying to hide these numbers?

Don't really care, anyone will get those for pvp and i say a big whatever since most players that get to be emperor or even a master nerd would require less of a social life, kinda of a zombie or something. I like progressive dungeons, raids and stuff but the competition to be the top player is silly.

Zenimax know about our concerns, hopefully they'll give us their stance on such addons...

I have no issues with the alerts for dodging, blocking, interrupting, etc, nor for damage numbers to be shown. I'm not a fan of being able to see enemy buff durations or HP totals though. Seeing debuff durations or friendly durations seem fine.

We will stop "crying" when ZOS fixed the "cheat-on" problem. I agree with OP, the add-on should be nerfed! They are too powerful!

I totally agree, I was shocked when I first saw some of the UI mods on youtube because it gives a huge advantage to those using them.

I really don't understand why it is allowed.

a agree with this ^

i agree with this also ^

i just feel bad when we see it so often and zenimax not even has the decency to comment about it.

they could easily say they are looking into it. or say they have no plans to stop it. iether way they could atleast make a comment about it.

yeah, as much as I love the game this is the exact kind of thing that will completely ruin PVP.

Combat becomes unfair because some [censored] wants to use a mod that gives him an unfair advatage so he can feel superior to other people by cheating. kinda sad as well.

its not about competition.

Anyone that Doesn't use the Mod in PVP will be penalized compared to those who do, and will be beaten by them almost every time. its a serious problem for anyone playing PVP who just want to play the game as intended and not cheat.

As it stands, pretty much any one NOT using an addon to AT LEAST view the magicka/stamina bar of the enemy in pvp, is simply gimping themselves, period.

Simple fix: Don't allow mods to catch the magicka/stamina bar, leave them to their buffs/debuffs, more than enough to poke around with there.

It's simply impossible to play mind games knowing that the enemy always knows now when you have stamina to break that CC or magicka to damage, etc.

I see no reason for addons to have access to that info, if the main game UI, for whatever reason, doesn't show it, neither should any one be able to do so.

+1 Truth. If Zenimax turns a blind eye to this, TESO will sink fast. Any use of a UI-mod that gives an advantage in gameplay over a player who doesn't, should be prohibited.
