I really thought TES V would be set in summerset isle

Butthurt?

Dragons are much cooler than smug High Elves. They call themselves the HIGH Elves for god sake. About 90% of the ones I met in Oblivion were more than a bit wanky :P

In Oblivion there were constant rumours surrounding the disappearance of the Nerevarine, Summerset Isle. There were also a few rumours about Black Marsh and I think there was even one concerning Skyrim too.

im hoping for a two province TES-VI unless it is summerset... i would like it to be either Valenwood + Elsweyr or Black Marsh + the bottom half of Morrowind (the coastline down) there is some interesting things about Valenwood, Elsweyr, and Black Marsh and since i think the next ES will be on the next gen consoles it will be doable.... there are cool creatures and the Hist in Black Marsh and there should be boating, at least small river boating. Elsweyr had hundreds of cities at one point some are ruins some are underground ruins some were forgot about and lost. all that seems so cool and interesting to go and explore. Valenwood also has cool creatures (not quite as interesting as black marsh's though) but its also sub tropical forest. and summerset island just seems so exotic (yes i said exotic) and there will deff be shipping and boating and pirateering (at least there better be)

I think because summerset isle is the land of high elves... it doesn't sit so well with mainstream and new fans. not alot of them want to hang around arrogant elves all day. but skyrim is like norse mythology and reminds people of vikings. which is very mainstream friendly. plus bethesda has been working with more violent and serious games (fallout) and they probably would want to test that in elder scrolls but im sure it wont be quite as violent. Summerset isle isnt the BEST choice for that theme. Maybe if something else happens with summerset u'll get it in the next game.

You know I bet that Summerset Isle was their 1st choice but I think that Todd saw Conan and was like we have to do it in Skyrim and was able to use his custom Charm spell to convince them to work on Skyrim.

Food for TES IV (or some future title).

I'm very glad they chose Skyrim - it's a radical departure from the generally warmer climate in Oblivion, and lots of areas for creativity!

Yes, it's had a volcano erupt, making it change from partly ash to almost completely ash. Sounds promising for a sequel.

Well, that happened 160 years ago. Pretty normal when it comes to volcanic eruptions. Except for the people and their cities, everything would more or less return to what it was.

All this talk of Morrowind 2.0 reminds me of Final Fantasy IX. The interesting thing though is that most Final Fantasy games are radically different in everything from setting to character development mechanics.

In that respect the Elder Scrolls games are actually very similar to each other. Most of the differences come from the setting, but in Skyrim's case there really is a huge change in the mechanics too.

It's kind of exciting now that I think about it and I think people are right. While I loved FFIX and the games it was modeled after (FFIV, FFV, and FFVI), completely new things do excite me. Morrowind 2.0 or Oblivion 2.0 would be great I'm sure... but they wouldn't be as special as just plain Skyrim holding its own.

I doubt it when there are so many other places to set it. We've already seen Morrowind. Next!

actually, we only saw vardenfell, we never saw the mainland, except the capitol but that doesn't count much.

I would love a TES set in the Summerset isles.
A highly magical environment, weird plants, ape men!
And the Altmer are fascinating, truly weird.

But what I would really love is a TES game set in the whole of Tamriel. If they could make it as unique and handcrafted as Morrowind. Truly huge, possibly a whole disk per province. Play a Khajit, start in Elsewhere, a Redguard in Hammerfell etc.
Not hundreds, but thousands of hours of gameplay.
Will prolly never happen.
Maybe for TES 15 :)

I wish, but not going to happen for so many reasons, but the least of which that would be gamebreaking for so many people is having to use more than one disk and long loading times.

Everyone knows the Summerset Isles is full of naked, dancing elves. TES will only go there in the "Elves Gone Wild" edition of the series.

I thought it'd be set in Summerset Isle too, just had a feeling (that obviously turned out to be wrong) though I'm really happy it turned out to be set in Skyrim, much happier with Skyrim than Summerset isle.

all titles are The Elder Scrolls: OneWord

sorry, Summerset Isle will never make it. :P

all sillyness aside, it would have been great, but I think they wanted TES: AsFarAsPossibleFromOblivionLandscapeWise.
summerset isles would have interesting architecture, but still green and leafy.

I'm overjoyed with Skyrim to be honest, glad we finally get to see the nordic province!

summerset isle would have been nothing like cyrodil. its controlled by some of the most powerful mages in the whole of tamerial, as well as the place of birth for the mages guild. considering weve heard that the mages guild has faced some kind of fracturing it would have been logical for a mages guild conflict to take place in the provence of its origin.

If they wanted that, they would've gone with Elsweyr. Desert in the north and jungle in the south.

Still not that different from Cirodiil, where selling the idea through screenshots is concerned. the autumn forests, icy plains and tall mountans make quite a contrast. knowing this, the next one may be someplace warm or temperate again. Just my opinion, but i find it will be good to be out in the cold for a change.

Morrowind is unlikely to change THAT much, unless it does a Cyrodiil and rapidly changes it's environment completely. It'll still be the same old mushroom trees and ash. As far as I'm aware, Argonia doesn't technically encompass Morrowind and I doubt they would make it so that it would as it's already a complex enough place without adding a whole extra province for a game. Daggerfall I don't really even count, since it was such low graphics that it could have been just about anywhere. It would seem totally different. Also, it was a much smaller area than Vvardenfell, which takes up probably about half the landmass. I find it unlikely they would do it when there are so many more regions.

So you think that the Argonians invaded Morrowind then just left? How does that make any sense? In the more than 160 years since the Infernal City (and who knows how long since the Red Year), they'll have had plenty of time to build new Argonian cities in mainland Morrowind. Bethesda isn't going to not give Morrowind to them just because they don't want to be bothered making more content when they finally have to make a game in Argonia.

And yes, Morrowind has changed THAT much, despite you trying in another post to make it seem like it was this tiny little event. The biggest volcano on Tamriel erupted, Vvardenfell is now circle-shaped and covered in ash, the sea around it is still boiling, and there's a bunch of Argonians where the Dunmer once were. I don't care how much you dislike the thought of seeing more of Morrowind, you can't deny that all of that is a big change.

Don't you mean Valenwood? Elves Gone Wild is a bit less pleasant in the TES series

The Wild Hunt is a pack of shifting forest-demons and animal-gods, thousands strong, which sweeps through the countryside killing everything its path. The Wood Elves do not like to talk about the Hunt, and I gather they do not feel proud of this power at all-Gomini, my Bosmer companion of late, tells me that the Hunt is used for justice, but that also, "every monster in the world that has ever been comes from a previous Hunt. Those Bosmer that go Wild, they do not return.
