I'd agree with your reasons. I have enjoyed the game a lot more than Oblivion so far and maybe even more than Morrowind which I considered the best previously. Even though I had some issues getting it installed (thanks Steam...) and a few crashes to desktop I've been having a blast and haven't had any reason to restart or fast travel everywhere. Also the game is just beautiful. I walked out of a cave after one of the early quests and saw a "northern lights" effect going on up in the sky and just said "Wow!" Some minor interface problems on PC but overall the game is great and I might even be convinced Skyrim is the best after I manage to put some serious time into it. At the very least I'm considering it pretty much on par with Morrowind in terms of my favorites until I give it the proper amount of playing to get past the "honeymoon" phase.

Personally I find the complaints against the "up-close" textures to be so trivial and ridiculous. If you're playing Skyrim for the visuals than I think you're missing the point of the game. There are always going to be some textures that don't look as good as others up close... but in a game as big as Skyrim, a few bad textures is not nearly important enough to hinder the experience at all. All together Skyrim is a beautiful game with a great art style.

I can't comment on the PC interface but it is fantastic on the PS3, and I assume the 360 as well. I also haven't encountered a single bug, but again, I can't comment on the PC version. I'm sorry that your experience hasn't been as smooth as others

The experience is different from person to person. I'm on PC, dont saw any bug, think that the game is gorgeous and that the UI accomplishes what is intended.

1. the combat is hugely improvd love it was amazing to fight. hevery style is different so i have watch who i am fighting.

2. environment, its what i would expect morrowwind to feel playing it for the first time. feels like a nordic home unlike cyrodill in oblivion i was like, uhh what why am i in a at a festival. it was strange for being a jungle in lore then a like 1/4 winter, 2/4 rolling hills and 1/4 dirty swamp.

3. smithing and minning is far more improved, i think when they make another tes they need to make it on a next gen no queston that the xbox360 has lived its life i think.

4.conversations are improved.

gods its so hard it feels so massive i love it.

For me, Skyrim is just as good as Morrowind...

They are both amazing games....

You know, when I first played Morrowind, I thought the world was so big... And there was so much to do, in terms of exploration....

I got that same feeling with Skyrim...
Now, I'm also feeling that the world is alive... There is so much you can do.

They just have to fix some bugs... PC UI is terrible...I'm glad I've a Xbox 360 controller...

I'm most certainly using quicksave before every sneaking attempt, or doing something that might have consequences. Despite the fact that Slkrim is populated by Hellen Kellers, it can still takes several attempts to take out an entire group without being seen.

Apparently! I guess it's really personal because I've heard so many people say they've had bugs and so many people say they've had no bugs at all. I'm usually lucky with bugs though. I never encountered a single major bug in New Vegas and I have to scratch my head whenever someone says that game was a buggy mess.

Reason # 1 - I have not used fast travel once!

Personally, I would have liked to at least been able to fast travel to the major cities like I did in Oblivion. I like to know that I have a safe haven somewhere so I don't die. It's very hard in Skyrim to get where I need because certain areas are lvl 10. So I have to find my way around them and then end up in weirder and more difficult situations.

Reason # 2 - I haven't had the urge to restart my character!

I restarted my Skyrim character a few times because it just isn't what I want.

Reason # 3 - I have not taken advantage of the save system!

I have had to save before every major thing I do. Because it gets difficult if I cannot sneak.

Strange reasons. Very strange.

If I'd have to pick 3 reasons why Skyrim is the TES to rule them all, I'd say immersive world, dragons and charcater develoment/depth. Oh and the magic system.

There should be one at the Whiterun Stables, outside the city.

Probably one of the best RPG I played so far, so I completely agree with the OP. I agree with all of your points actually, at a hundred percent. The story is just magnificent, I love it. I think the story in Skyrim is way better than the story in Oblivion. I also don't feel the urge of completing the main quests as fast as I can as I'm just walking into the world and setting up my own little quests by killing wolves and bears to get their pelts and mining ores to make myself armors. And I also agree that Skyrim raised the benchmark way up high for future games to compete with, Skyrim is a game I long waited for, and it just amazes me.

And IMO, with a story like that, I would really picture a movie called Skyrim.

There is no way I'm going to judge a game three days after release. I'm played Oblivion 1,000 hours. We'll see how I feel about Skyrim after 100 or so.

Well the world, dragons, and character development would have been the obvious reasons! These reasons are the most surprising to me because they completely changed the way I play, especially in comparison to the previous games. :celebration:

Meh.....if you like Skyrim better than Morrowind thats your choice, I just feel like they left a lot of the great aspects out of the game. But it look pretty so that makes up for all the mistakes :/

I think it's more than just the visuals that make up for any shortcomings the game has.
