Rebel or empire?

Post » Sat Aug 20, 2011 9:39 am

Long live the Empire! :foodndrink:

This, unless it's remarkably corrupt. I think Attrebus has a lot of potential to be a great leader though, but that won't be known until the end of the second book and even then his legacy can be ruined by his successors.

I've been a loyal Imperial since Morrowind and I see no reason to change now. That is, at least, if the Cyrodillic Empire of Skyrim hasn't come down with generic evil empire syndrome(GEES). I always hated that.

Yeah, also known as the http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GoodRepublicEvilEmpire situation.

A society is judged by how they treat they're lowest. and in that vain, listen to those annoying angry peasants and use your amazing Dragon Born-ness to make them an amazing rebellion.

(p.s. that first sentence is very paraphrased)

depends what the current emperor is like. Depends if he is tyrranical, nice, liberative. If the emperor is someone like Muammor Ghaddafi, i will fight with the rebels, if he is someone nice, well the empire it is.

Ghaddafi, are you kidding, you listen to too much western propaganda. I'm not saying he's a nice man, but most of his own people love him; and he recently armed them, so it shows he trusts his own people too?

If it is a genuine rebellion, not some organised Machiavellian like set up, then I will join the rebels.

With the Aldmeri Dominion reformed the last thing the human races should be doing is separating.

Nords clearly lack foresight, but what can you expect they're Nords their intelligence is limited.

Which is why he was ready to call in air strikes on his own people before the U.N. sanction? Interesting... Or are you referring to the fact that he completely neglected the needs of his country and countrymen by spending a ton of money on the military and letting cities like benghazi rot?. Or maybe you're referring to all of those wars he helped fund in sub-saharan Africa? I'm not saying there isn't western propaganda (believe me, there's a lot of it) but in this case maybe you should do some actual research on the topic.

...but yeah Skyrim, though...

Since I'm hoping for a goodly Empire (or at least one that thinks it's being good) I expect the Stormcloaks to be run by a coalition of Jarls and their aristocratic supporters that want more power over their people and autonomy from the Empire and its laws. I don't expect the rebels to truly be run by the peasants and common folk, though I could be wrong.

Perhaps both sides will be written in a sympathetic manner.

Not to get to much into RL politics, but, if you look at videos of any dictator, you can see the crowds cheering them, it doesn't, make them an effective leader.

But um yeah, Stromcloaks FTW :mohawk:

If the Empire is evil, and the rebels the 'good' choice, then that is terrible writing. If you don't have a clue, and they all lie to you, and are all self serving, and the leaders of the rebels are only interesting in using their men as pawns to increase their own power, and your only real choice is to support whoever furthers your own ends, then we are starting to get somewhere.

I just realized, I was talking to a british guy, I missed the opportunity for some prime revolutionary war jokes.

Here goes! umm...Of course you'd support Qaddafi, might I remind you of that tyrant King George, my good sir?...nope, moment passed.

They can't ruin the lore for future games.

If something like this prevents Bethesda from making an interesting, multibranching storyline with meaningful choices and consequences, then they've done something wrong.

Rebels all the way! Although truthfully I'd have to hear each side's proposition before I make up my mind and commit myself.

Well, of course I'll have to wait and see what both sides have to say, but most likely I'm going to end up siding with the rebels.
