X: Rebirth

I remember early on getting a Xenon M4 to "bail" once. Sent it off to the nearest shipyard to be picked up later.

Got a message not too long after that one of my ships was under attack. A Q had warped in to the sector. I had no means to take one on at that point and watched sadly as it demolished my newly acquired Xenon M4. :sadvaultboy:

How annoying. I remember those Xenon motherships annoying me for a very different reason. Whenever I saw one I would be unable to resist shooting at them before they split up so I could get loads of free kills, but the handful that survived would inevitably outmanouver me and blow me to pieces. But I could never resist attacking them.

I remember not understanding the mission board very well. Accidentally taking something outside of my skill range. Like three dozen Xenon ships came in, the only reason I lasted so long was because I was in an M3. I was still getting back into the swing of combat and getting myself familiar with the controls again. Didn't stand a chance, my M3 didn't have upgraded engines so I got circles flown around me and whittled into nothing.

I think you're thinking of Khaak clusters, not the Xenon.

recently? the only thing I can think of is the X superbox. (Which is just the entire X-series in one bundle) I think there's a few other space related games that have come out in 2009-2010, but none that I could vouch for, or have quite frankly seen in a store.

You could look into Evochron Mercenary. That's the only other recent singleplayer space sim I recall.
There's a frustrating number of MMO space sims under development, considering how few options there are for singleplayer <_<

Why have I never heard of this game series? It seems exactly the thing I'd love to play.

So many wasted years.

Germany is far away from Middle-Earth, that is why. :shifty:
