"reboot?"

Now, I'm gonna assume we all saw the G4 interview with Todd. However, there was so much going on, that until recently I hadn't noticed that Todd said something about "rebooting Elder scrolls."

Now before you all panic, due to the context I don't know that it means that the next games will ignore all the previous ones, etc, start over, what-have-you. Skyrim's GI article seemed to imply that this game would wipe the slate clean as far as the influence of the third era goes. I just think we may all want to ponder over this for a bit.

I don't remember anything specifically from Todd, but either way I assume this just means they are redoing the system, like they do every game. Although this reboot is arguably larger than others, adding perks, dual wielding etc. and removing attributes, some skills, birthsigns etc.

So "reboot," taken in this context, you think means "loads and loads of revamping?" I certainly hope you're right, but it does wind up fitting in with his mentioning that they had considered waiting another hardware generation. HMMM.

...pondering...

From Gstaff:

No, it's nothing like that. Typically though from one game to the next whether it's Oblivion, Fallout 3, or Skyrim -- we want the player to feel like they're in an all-new experience. All the lore carries on from one TES game to the next, but if Skyrim was your first Elder Scrolls game experience, you wouldn't feel like you're missing a huge chunk of the story.

So yep, you were right Dragonbone.
