Rebooting - an answer from Crytek please.

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 4:36 am

I've just hit maximum level and I'm thinking of rebooting.
I've checked out a few videos of people rebooting and some seem to have kept their leaderboard stats and some have not.
I've also read on other forums that the leaderboard stats resetting was a bug that has been patched.

Could somebody from Crytek please let me know what is supposed to happen to your leaderboard stats after rebooting?

Thanks.

I rebooted last Thursday and it reset all my leader-board stats. I didn't really care, I was getting bored with not ranking up, my k/d ratio was like .79, and I was curious to see what it is now. But I don't understand why it says you will keep your stats. It's strange.

It says it does because that was their intention... Like other parts of the game, it just doesn't function properly.

As for the resetting, I almost positive it hasn't been fixed and happens to everyone. The only thing that doesn't get reset is your total XP. So you will maintain your position in the XP leaderboards.... If you really care to be up there with the amount of boosters that there are/were in the game.

Other than that, it's kinda nice to reset your K/D and see how well you're doing without having the learning process hampering your current K/D. I went from 1.88 to 2.85.

I understand the challenges and modules resetting, it would take forever to rank up again if they didn't, but I don't understand resetting your leaderboard stats.

Last time I checked I was 175th in the world for wins, with around 400 wins...if I reboot, I don't see why I should drop down the rankings, I've still won 400 games!

Hoping to get an official response as to what should happen.

The thing is, now I REALLY don't want to reboot now since I find it hard to get into matches as easily as I did a few weeks ago. I'm only lv33 so when I hit 50 I think I'm going to stay there.

It does reset your leaderboard stats period. It doesn't do it until after you restart the game though. I think Crytek totally meant to reset the wins, kills & stuff. I think they just don't understand that aspect of multiplayer games, and it was easier to reset everything for them. They didn't realize that people have actually quit because rebooting reset everything.

Anyway, now it would be totally unfair to the hundreds that have re booted to let people start keeping their stats. I've dropped around 35k kills all together from re-booting. I'm pretty sure it would put me #1 on their leaderboard, but I haven't played in about a week so I don't know. Doesn't matter though, the 4k I have on my 5th reboot is what shows up.

Wins & kills don't mean anything honestly. DO you think you're gonna get laid because you're top 10 in Crysis? I have actually heard people say that you can get sponsorships & all kinds of cool ****, which is naive. No one cares what rank you are on leaderboards. The #1 kills guy is afraid of a lot of players. I've saw him back out of so many lobbies I don't see how he plays any. En3my, I don't even know if he's still #1. I mean he enters the lobby & leaves like 15 times in a row, because someone who is good is there, or players are spamming armor & he can't do good against them.

I believe where you heard that was in the PC forum. I believe they patched the reboot issue for the PC version and haven't yet for the console versions. Go check out the PC 1.4 patch notes. It's in there. Clearly Crytek still see the PC version as the lead version as it has had more support despite the markets saying that the 360 version is the lead version, at least in sales. :/

I get laid whatever my stats are, it's just coming from CoD where I would never even be in the top million, it's kinda cool to have 'achieved' a decent rank on a game I enjoy, albeit in a rapidly shrinking community.

I suppose I've come to terms with the boosters... It seems nearly impossible to weed them out short of having someone monitor the leaderboards constantly. A group of people trading XP isn't really against a ToS or anything. It's just incredibly lame. With a XP system in place, you will have boosters.

en3my is a cheater. he will go jump from 4-3 to 13-3 about two minutes or so into every match i've played with him. just like that: you hit select, he's in fourth place, hit select again, he is ten kills over everyone. reported him for cheating, everyone else should too.

Twisted, I am on the 5th reboot. I did the same as you, around 6k a reboot. I estimated 35k kills overall on one post, but it's more exactly between 30k & 35k considering that I'm at lvl 44 on the 5th, and the last 6 levels are like the first 20 combined. My brother played some of them, but he also plowed my KD into loser land on a few of the reboots. But all that does is make me feel like I play video games too much. No way would I have played so much if I wasn't un employed the first month this game come out. No money + free time = video games, for me anyway. I have been off Crysis for about a week, and I could really care less what happens on the leaderboards. The modders can get my total XP in one game anyway.

What ever happened to playing for fun? SOmetimes I'll run around just using a pistol or something retarded like that. I got friends that do nothing but play Halo Reach on Forge mode, and they just jerk around in there. But they have a lot of fun at it. If you enjoy proving you are good at video games more than playing the games, I would say you have a serious character flaw going there. Doing well on the leaderboards should be a by product of enjoying a game so much you play it all the time, not the other way around.

And Da, the fact that you had to exclaim you get laid no matter how good you do on Crysis is kinda pathetic. It didn't have anything to do with the question of whether you thought video games stats got you laid, which was actually a euphamism for do you think it makes you look cool, or improve your standing in society, and it also screams "I truthfully don't get laid as much as I'd like, but I would like you guys to think I do" lol I hope you are the ultimate ladies man & get more tail than toilet seats & panty liners, but I can speak from experience that the month & a half+ I put in to gtetting the Eternal warrior dog tag, that playing video games that much severely limits your social time & doesn't help 1 bit with picking up women. Seriously, my girlfriend threatened to go screw my brother if I didn't get the hell off Skyline. Thats when you put the controller down & forget about leaderboards & machine pistols.

I agree with Twisted, happens all the time. The decent players start out bad sometimes, but the scores always end up how they should be it seems. I have started 1-7 and came back to win 25-8. Its just how this game works. Not to mention support bonuses like the Gunship really make streaks come quickly
