Rebuilding Brotherhood DLC

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 10:04 am

As far as Brotherhood DLC content goes, it would be kind of nice to see us be tasked with heading a *commonwealth* chapter of the Brotherhood as the Prydwen plans to move back to its base of operations in the citadel. The Brotherhood doesn't plan to keep its main force in Boston forever, and after the main quest is over, your held at the highest rank possible below that of an elder. So.. becoming the elder of the brotherhood in the commonwealth would be kind of great.

You could pick who you wanted to stay, like Haylen. potentially find a way to bring Danse back in to the fold, which would make him pretty happy. You certainly wouldn't have the great explosive force anymore like you did with Maxon, but hey a couple of vertibirds, and a dozen soldiers to start would be a great point for breaking ground. This would also be a good way to make settlements have a brotherhood allegiance instead of minutemen. (something I've wanted to be able to do.)

Yeah, but is that fun for those who killed the Brotherhood?

Sure it won't happens when you can't even try to talk about serious things in the game.

Like with the institute, I wish one thing I could tell the father after he says not to judge them too fast was about basic science ethics and abducing people, like that's a bad thing to do.

Considering they only seek to destroy infiltration robots whose every thought and "emotion" is programmed I don't see what the problem is? Throughout the whole game I see Synths that either murdered and replaced real people or are in the act of trying to murder and replace someone.....all things considered I can easily say the Brotherhood are right to act as they do. As for Virgil, that's laughable......have you read his research notes in the Institute? He's practically a torturer and a monster.....I had no qualms about putting him out of his misery.

There is nothing to fix about the Brotherhood of Steel.....they are 100% correct in their actions.

Nick is ancient scrap....I doubt the Institute care about it either way and Curie isn't exactly a Synth......she was a pre-war robot that achieved consciousness and then transfered her identity into an already brain-dead synth whose entire programming had been erased. Doesn't change the fact that nearly all synths are infiltration units without a thought of their own.

The synths that are infiltrating and killing people are doing so under direct supervision by the Institute. That is the purpose of the creation of the generation 3 synths. Excluding the ones that malfunction or what-have-you, most of the synths are innocent, and only perform horrible acts when they are purposely told to.

As for Virgil... well you are just wrong. You need to go back and read the logs or find them online. True he took up the research, but expressed immediate discomfort with the research because it served no purpose and was unethical as hell. He eventually sabotaged the whole operation, going so far as to convert himself into a super mutant to accomplish this goal, because he couldn't stand to perform that research anymore. A fact which father was well aware of. That to me was the information that turned me against the Institute for good.

The Brotherhood is very clearly out of line when it comes to their hostility toward all ghouls though. Virgil is a bit of a grey area I'd admit, cause who knows if he is going to become more degenerate (a fact he seems to hint at) but non-feral ghouls are essentially just physically deformed human beings. Killing them because of that fact is the most barbaric and ignorant thing I can imagine, on the level of what the Nazi's did. The fact you can't confront them on this crap just made it impossible for me to follow them.

If this was done as a DLC segment, all the factions would be given something.

Not just the people who choose BoS.

Don't care about arguing the merits of the supposed innocence or malfunctioning robots. The fact Virgil went with the research as far as he did is enough for me. In regards to ghouls.....bleh....they had their time and they are all doomed to eventually become feral....might as well put them out of their misery. In the end humanity is in a very vulnerable position that cannot be further compromised....look at the state we find Diamond City in....supermutants within 20 feet of the city walls, murdering the guards and the mayor is an institute infiltration unit. There is no margin for error or compassion.....humanity must be protected and preserved!!

Ha ha, I don't think it is fair to just disregard points you don't want to entertain, but I think I get your general position. I think the way you are looking at the Brotherhood may justify the way they operate, but their power structure itself is unsettling to me. Either way, I already made my choice, the purpose of the thread was to entertain a way to bring the brotherhood back into the game of people who already took them out.

Another interesting point, maybe the Brotherhood returns en force to the Commonwealth and you end up getting into a prolonged struggle with them and the Lyon's faction comes to your aid and there is an ultimate struggle to decide what the policy of the Brotherhood should be. That would work for either end game scenario: Brotherhood alive or dead.
