Great band. Even though there's tons of post-rock out there, Explosions in the Sky still stands out to me. Maybe it's becuase they were one of the first bands in the genre I ever heard, or that they live just a few hours from me (which in Texas, isn't very far away). I don't know. Though you should pick up The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place if you haven't already. That whole album = <3

Got that a few weeks ago :P I'm only missing one album now. "The Only Moment We Were Alone" has got to be my favourite song by them.

I went to go buy Deus Ex and it was 2 for the price of 1 but there were no other decent games so I bought Michael Jackson's Thriller instead.

I went to Guitar Center after work to look at their older model PRS SEs that they're trying to clear out today, but they didn't have any 24 frets. I went over to Sam Ash (a few blocks away here) and looked at their SEs, and they had a really nice looking purple... something. It was an older model, and was only 499 but I believe was a 22 fret as well. I asked the guy if they had any of the 25th aniversary SE 24s I could look at. He said they literally just got one in Royal Blue and it hadn't been opened. He got it out and I immediately reserved it (until I can transfer the money from my savings account to my checking to pay for it). The thing looks fantastic and plays better than any guitar I've touched before. The photos online don't do it justice. I'm also planning on getting a Peavey Vypyr 30W amp online to run it to.

Long story short, went into Sam Ash to "just look around" and ended up dropping over 700 bucks on an amazing guitar. I'll post pictures as soon as I get it (either today or next week sometime).

Damn I was after one of those myself (Was going to get the red one), I can't afford it at the moment unfortunately, but I've had my eye on a PRS 24 for over a year now. These 25th Anniversary ones are a god-send (I really wanted the bird inlays :P)

Recently I got this album by a Finnish underground punk band called Aivol?vistys (eng. = Brain piercing :mohawk:) Here's a song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3nF7RhJ1eI

I also got two Rage Against the Machine albums for 10€ which I thought was a pretty good deal.

Haha another Lost Horizon fan, at least I hope. What do you think of Heiman's vocals??

I just purchased 3 CD's today.

Yngwie Malmsteen's Alchemy
Mark Boals' Ring of Fire (got Alchemy for Mark Boals as well)
Silent Force's debut album..can't remember what its' called now haha.

The strings it came with are... less than ideal. And I don't have an amp at the moment, going to buy a Peavey Vypyr 30w, but Sam Ash only had the 15w and 75w models. No problem, it's cheaper to buy online anyways.

I just bought Amanda Palmer Performs The Popular Hits Of Radiohead On Her Magical Ukulele. I've never listened to the Dresden Dolls, but this was too cool an idea to pass up and it was one of those "pay pretty much whatever you like" dealios anyway :) And it's pretty cool...

I just finally bought the single Elephants by Warpaint, which I've liked for a while.

Been checking out The [censored] Buttons and Godspeed You! Black Emporer lately, but not committed to a purchase yet - just moved house so need to slow down those purchases for a while - though I'll definitely be buying the Foetus album HIDE when it comes out next month.

(Lord Elendiir, since you're a fan - care to recommend one GYBE album for next payday?)

Oh yes - and I've been listening to Strategies Against Architecture 3 by Einstuerzende Neubauten, plus I'm still playing to death those Battles and Aylin Aslim albums I bought a couple of months back.

That's obviously not directed at me, but I'm a pretty huge fan, too. Anyway, for a first album, I'd suggest Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven. It's GYBE's second full length, but I think it's a bit easier to listen than f# a# ∞ (their first album) for someone who's new to 'em. Both of those albums (and the EP, Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada, that came between them) are absolutely great though. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the three. I can't comment on their third (and last) full length though, because I've not really listened to it nearly as much as the others (I've actually been meaning to buy it for a while now).

Thanks, I'll check it out :)
Heh ... first time I saw that first-album title, I thought it was autocensor avoidance - then I realised it was F-sharp A-sharp infinity! :D

Yeah I'm with Sept', Lift Your Skinny Fists is probably the most accessible. If you've got a vinyl player I strongly recommend you get the double LP (it's as cheap as a CD from Normanrecords). I've only got that and F# A#∞, both are excellent.

Last night I bought a CD from a man called Zacc Rogers, a blues guitarist I found playing on a street corner in Manchester (I was on a night out, must have been half 3 when I went over to him), ended up sat watching him for 2 hours, a crowd gathered and a few of us were dancing whilst he covered some songs (I remember him covering the specials), it was spectacular. He's on myspace I reckon if you like blues you should check him out. The CD was only £3, but I must have give him about £10 in total when I was sat watching him :P

EDIT:

Damnit thinking about GSBE is making consider ordering Yanqui U.X.O now <_<

And Damn that's a nice guitar. I was after the red one myself.

Long time since I got anything, but yesterday I picked up:

Love as Laughter - Trademark Of Quality
Murder City Devils - In Name And Blood
Ugly Casanova - Sharpen Your Teeth
Mason Jennings - Boneclouds

There's a connection between all of these, can you spot it? :D

Can't believe how excited this has got me :P

[...] Slow Riot for New Zero Kaneda (EP) [...]

Moya is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. And that's not just because of my rampant fanboyish nature towards their music, either. :P

Also, let me know what you think of Yanqui U.X.O. if you care to.

It's good, but not as good as the others. The first two sides (2 LPs) are really good, but I wasn't a big fan of mother(naughtyword)=redeemer. SAYING THAT, I was playing a game, I might like it more if I pay more attention to it.
