I got Roky Erickson's new cd. It's AWESOME! Definitely worth purchasing if you like blues/country à la Cash.

Picked up a bunch of vinyl the other day: White Light White Heat, Brain Salad Surgery, Sheer Heart Attack, L.A. Woman. Really want to purchase a new record player, though; as in brand new. I'd like to listen to these with a new needle and player, not on my second-hand 1970s relic.

...Brain Salad Surgery...

I was just listening to that for the first time in ages. Forgotten how good it was, although Elegy by the Nice is my favourite album as far as Keith Emerson is concerned.

Had to turn it off when Karn Evil 9 came on though, 'cause I'm at work and it was faaar too distracting to get anything done...

I saw an MP3 download for 79p for a live Pigface jam with Jim Thirlwell from Foetus. I don't know if anyone's familiar with Martin Atkins' "supergroup", but they tend to go one of two ways - either absolutely brilliant or beyond terrible.

My 79p bought me what might actually top Iron Monkey as the most atrocious racket it has ever been my misfortune to hear. My eyes are actually watering here. It's absolutely, mind-bogglingly, bafflingly, [censored] terrible beyond all possible description.

Luckily I had earlier bought Foetus's 'Sink' compilation with which to clean my poor, unhappy ears. Honestly, he http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=268I3M74i-I.

Just bought the Final Fantasy XIII - Piano Collections. Not only do I like quite a few of the Final Fantasy games and just about all of their music, but I love piano. So it's pretty obvious that I absolutely love the piano collections series. XIII's is quite good, too. Part of me still likes Uematsu's work more, but Hamauzu's is nice as well.

I just bought a bass. Dunno if it was a good idea but it's fun so far.

Don't ask me the model. There's no writing on it whatsoever. Cheapo knockoff model I guess...

Yikes! That's pricey!

Don't they do any sew-on stickers or something? Back in my day *creak* we'd buy army surplus rucksacks and sew emblems onto them, plus decorate them with pin-on badges.

Hey, there ya go:

http://homiciderocker.com/rammstein-patch-sehnsucht-p-238.html ($4.25 = £3.50)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rammstein-Badge-set-2-/280539655726 (currently £5.52)

Hunh ... looks like they don't do the old-style canvas rucksacks any more, but this is an across-the-shoulder version that would probably do:

http://shop.tacticalthings.com/product_info.php?cPath=35_53&products_id=260 (£15.95)

Total: £24.97 + shipping

Which is still horrifically expensive, but less than the official bag.

Not music-related, but I really love this http://biowarestore.com/mass-effect/n7-armour-stripe-hoody.

But I couldn't afford it, so instead I replaced my chewed-up video cassette of Pigface's Glitch live rockumentary with a posh new DVD version:

This double program contains the LONG out of print GLITCH video featuring Pigface live 90-96, and SON OF GLITCH, an hour long video features live performances from over 15 shows plus an exclusive look behind the scenes: backstage, on the bus, and in the studio. It's an amazing spectacle of late 80's/early 90's indie-music icons. KMFDM's En Esch, Revco/Ministry's Chris Connelly, Nine Inch Nails creator Trent Reznor, Mary Biker, William Tucker (RIP), Raven (Prong/Killing Joke), Andrew Weiss (Rollins Band/Ween), Danny Carey (Tool), and leader-slash-drummer Martin Atkins (Public Image Ltd./Ministry/Killing Joke) keep this video spinning with their over-the-top antics and Spinal Tap-ish tour foibles. This should bein your video collection between the Who's 'The Kid's Are Alright' and Dave Markey's '1991: The Year Punk Broke'.

Saw Arcade Fire's new album, The Suburbs, at a store just a while ago while I was out -- decided to pick it up. I'm still listening to it right now, but I quite like what I've heard so far.

Edit: The album's had time to sink in after a few more listens. I must say, I really like it. It's great. Also, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH_7_XRfTMs is one of the most catchy songs I think I've ever heard (doesn't hurt that I adore Chassagne's vocals, too).

I just spent $100 importing three albums by PIG!

The actual albums themselves were only $50 for all three - Wrecked, Sinsation and Praise the Lard.
Then I had to pay $15 to get it shipped to the USA from Canada (they wouldn't ship to the UK). Then from there, my friend very kindly sent it on to me, at the cost of another $15.
Then I got landed a $20 import tax when it got here a month later! :(

Still, worth every penny! Having finally received them at the weekend, I've had them on constant rotation ever since.

I just saw a copy of A Stroll in the Pork (also by PIG) for £15 and just grabbed it right away. They had another copy also for sale (both second-hand at Amazon) - that one was £42, so I guess I snagged myself a bargain. Just need to find The Swining and my collection is complete (at least of the ones I want). Yay!

My love/fetish/addiction for all things JG Thirlwell also reared its http://www.sdphotography.net/portraits/pages/portraits-08.htm head when I found he'd released two things. One was http://www.amazon.co.uk/10-Ton-Shadow/dp/B00408UAWG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1284674296&sr=8-1, a contribution to a compilation called The NYFA Collection, which turns out to be a lengthy compilation of compositions by New York's finest. It's of the avant garde/modern classical persuasion, so Thirlwell's piece is suitably soundtracky.

My other Foetus-y purchase was Thirlwell's side-project Hydroze Plus, which was a collaboration with Fred Bigot from Electronicat - listen http://foetus.org/content/discography/releases/hydroze-plus - best track is Overcoat. Definitely one for fans of DJ Shadow, Tricky, Massive Attack, etc.
