While I am here, I will give my quick plug for Wrye Bash. Although its bashed patch has not yet achieved full functionality in Skyrim, its a swiss army knife patcher in Oblivion, so much so that it is required for some Oblivion mods to work. The best example of that is http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/18305/?, which is a fantastic weather/lighting mod for Oblivion.
Also, if you get too many mods in your load order, they will undoubtedly start to conflict and when that happens, some of your mods are not going to function right because their records are being replaced by changes in other mods lower in your load order. To some extent, you can fix these issues by proper load order, but depending on how many mods you are using and what those mods are, there may be no load order that passes all the changes you want into your game. A bashed patch can solve that issue for you, along with fixing some bugs that you would otherwise need separate patches to fix.

I've not been able to get Bash's Bashed Patch to work right in my games. Last time I tried to build a patch for Oblivion, it was instant CTDs for me. Oddly, I use Wrye Smash for Skyrim, including patches, and it works for me fine in that game.

Speaking of mod managers, is it possible to use several mod managers? For example I could use one mod manager that I like, but if you need a certain one for a special mod I could just load up another mod manager that it supports and install it from that one? Not sure how that works really or if that is really possible?

By instant CTD, do you mean CTD on startup? If so, that sounds like a missing master, which could happen if you build the bashed patch and the bashed patch incorporated a record from a mod that was activated in Wrye Bash but got deactivated when you switched to your other mod manager. Any mod whose record is merged into the bashed patch will be a master to the bashed patch and must be active when you load the game (if the bashed patch is active) or there will be a missing master and you will get an instant CTD when you try to load the game.
I am going to draw a distinction between installation of mods and management of load order. It's usually best to install everything with a single mod manager because most mod managers cannot manage installation of mods that were installed with a different manager. But you can install mods with different managers if you want (except maybe mod organizer, that one may require everything to be installed through it because of its virtual file system).
But you can totally use one mod manager to install your mods and use another to manage your load order. Well, technically you also may need need BOSS or LOOT for that, unless you want to sort your load order manually (which I do for Skyrim), but your mod manager can show you the load order and let you activate and deactivate mods. You can also use one mod manager to install mods and manage your load order and just use Wrye Bash to build the bashed patch if you want.

Are you familiar with the "rule of one"? When multiple mods change the same record, only the last mod loaded has any effect on that record in your game.
A bashed patch is a type of merged patch that you make with the Wrye Bash program. What it does is merge changes to individual records by different mods into a single .esp file (called the bashed patch.esp) that loads last so that you can get all changes to a record by the various mods in your load order in your game.
mileafly: no I don't use that one. Hold on. I am home now, I will find it. http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/2277/?. It comes with four esp files, and I've got all four of them ticked ON in OBMM, but to be honest I don't remember what each esp does. Each one has a different function though.
Turija: Thanks. Yes, it is entirely possible that something got switched off. Thanks. I've heard so much about building a bashed patch. "It's a must", they say. After getting Betty's Animal Planet (which warns us that we'll need to build a patch so BAP won't interfere with others who also modify Leveled Lists). I decided to build a patch with WB, but then probably switched WB off and put OBMM on. So that makes sense.

I actually don't want to attempt to describe it ... it'll blow you away though, I promise. Just install it, and then go inside any vanilla location which has windows (like Cheydinhal Inn, for instance). I believe this mod may depend on some other mods though, so make sure you read its install instructions thoroughly. Yes, it depends on All Natural, which is a lighting & weather mod which is yet another one which is sort of complicated.

Yeah, but I'm annoying sometimes. I know this. It's a real problem for me in real-life sometimes. I say the wrong thing innocently and next thing I know I'm backtracking and having to explain my "joke". I'm thinking I should go explain to Turija (via PM) the history of my joke with the word "immersion"; which predates his mod's name by several years.
... these forums are dead though, right? I look back to 2012, 2013, even last year. We were having a ball. Those were the days! Whatever though. Things change. People change.
Hmm is Oblivion in general more unstable and glitchy then Skyrim? As I mentioned before I have modded Skyrim quite heavely before, I had about 200 mods in my previous install and there was still not really any real issues.
However with Oblivion I have noticed quite a lot of oddities just by going around the beginning area. I have installed a very few mods so far so I am even unsure if it can even be the mods that can cause these things. The ones I have so far is:

So far the game seems to behave quite strange sometime even with this little testing. I frequently notice objects like some ruins sometimes just "pop" into existence when you get fairly close (like within a few hundred meters where it is really noticable). Also grass seems to often pop in and out or change "angle", especially when you move the view to a certain angle, you can move the view back and forth to a specific angle and you will see the grass change "angle", it is quite strange. Also I stumbled unto a very strange area close to the starting place where there was a big chunk of the land mass that was missing, there was just a big hole where the ground was supposed to be. First I thought it was just invisible, but when I walked into the hole I fell through the world. I quit the game and started it again and reloaded and then the hole was gone.. Also have got a few CTD and often there is some sort of message when I quit the game that it did not close properly.
Are these things "normal" with Oblivion? :s
Try this. Go into Options > Video and move Tree Fade, Actor Fade, Item Fade Object Fade, Grass Distance and View Distance to the right, set Distant Land, Distant Buildings and Distant Tress to "On" (if they aren't already) and see if that makes any difference.
About the grass. That is how SpeedTree works. Up close, the game renders true 3D models. But in the distance, grass and trees are just flat, cardboard cut-outs. To try and hide this from you, the game rotates the grass and trees so that they always face you no matter where you are.
There may be a mod that replaces the flat billboard trees and grass with 3D models, I don't know. I don't use many graphics mods. Renee or Turija would probably know more about that than I do.

I have all settings to max, Also the reloaded mod changes some things to make graphics better with more viewing distance and more grass.

From 2006 untill around 2010, a newly added post would scroll off the first menu page within hours. Hot threads would max out in a few days. Low interest topics would drop to page three or four in a day. In those days, the forum was an integral part of the game. I really miss it.

He vowed as a warrior that he would never again use invisibility but would face his opponents squarely and may the better man win. He was at the peak of power and it seemed like nothing could ever stop him when this happened.
His only hope was to break out of the circle, string them out, and take them on, two or three at a time. He had fought that kind of fight many times and always been the last man standing. But, now, something strange happened. As he looked again for the city guards and found them languishing around only a few feet from where he was being battered, his heart seemed to break. I'm enjoying everyones definition of immersion. It is interesting to see the differences.
I play on default difficulty myself. I actully do not enjoy fighting much in these games.
