Recommend me some "Immersion" mods

I was a big fan of "Fallout Wanderer's Edition" the "DC Interior's Project" and perhaps a couple of other mods that added more mid-20th century weapons, ammo crafing, weapon modding, additional critters I think, I cannot think of everything I had running FO3 when I did my last bit of playing.



What woulld be my best bets for a similar mod set for FONV? Project Nevada?

Project Nevada is really good and configurable through MCM.

While the vanilla game does have mods for weapons and ammo crafting they're not fleshed out very well. http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/39651/? will add weapon mods to every weapon from the base game + DLC, http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/41013/? will allow you to craft every ammo type and some explosives.

Hmmph, kinda weird. Project Nevada "advises" using FOMM, I have my doubts it really is necessary with NMM and MCM?



But anyway, I downloaded it in NMM and in the Download status tab it says:

Well FOMM is a program that needs to be installed and I doubt NMM can handle that but if you managed to get PN installed without it then don't bother with FOMM.



Don't forget to grab the DLC plugins for ACS and WMX. Also since you have all the DLC you can use the DLC-Merged versions.



There's also http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/42363/? that has patches for the DLC and WMX so you may want to take a look at that.



You may also want to grab http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/44515/? so you can actually remove mods from weapons, vanilla you can't.

ADDIT: actually, let me ask you guys another question: what sort of character build might you suggest for this type of playthrough?



I almost ALWAYS default to a female, sneaky-thief, sniper build, with a kind of "help the needing, but rob/kill when necessary" ethos. Chaotic Good or maybe Chaotic Neutral I guess. I always enjoy this type of character, and it works in virtually any gamesas game. Moreover, any effort I ever make to play any other type build always seems to gradually morph into such a build anyway!



Still I'm always interested to try new things if anyone has a particular suggestion.

Is it Wrye Bash used to make bash patches for FONV?



ADDIT: ah never mind. It was really just the multiple DLC patches for the WMX I was worried about. It mentioned "merging them" but as it turns out it did it by itself ;)

I think NMM kinda messed up my MCM installation. I get that popup when I enter MCM menu saying something about "multiple entries." I checked out the readme as the popup indicated and looked at the two files it recommends.



It indicates that the problem can be solved by deleting one of the entries, but there is only one in one of the files so I'm not sure. Anyway, it runs. Might copy paste all the details and PM Pelinor at some point if it seems like it really matters.



Amazing to go back to the engine as it was so many years ago. It makes me realize how far they have come with FO4.

Oh, that issue. PN comes bundled with it's own version of MCM but it's only for PN and not other mods. So when you install the stand-alone MCM needed for other mods the game will give you that message. Download and install http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/57174/? and see if that message goes away.

ADDIT: Great! That seems to have fixed it. No more error popup when I enter the MCM menu, though strange I didn't get any configuration options from that UIO plugin. Just downloaded and activated with NMM, et voila!



I think I'll fiddle with this test toon a bit, just to make sure I have the settings to my liking, and then I'm all set up to start over with a new toon. Might actually 'finish' FONV in a couple years ;)
