Recommend some mods?

Post » Mon Oct 04, 2010 7:45 pm

I haven't played FO3 in a while, and I just got The Pitt and Broken Steel. The only mods I have are the very basic ones. No auto-aim, MMM, slower degredation and FOMM + FOSE. Not sure what other mods to get. I looked at FWE, but it seemed like TOO much. Thoughts on this mod?

Also, which UI mod would be the best? Best mod that adds the most weapons/armors, etc? All suggestions welcome!

Try my Ammo Limit for a added challenge. And if you plan on making a new char, my skill point module.

I reccomend Arwen's Realism Tweaks.

If FWE is too much then maybe take a look at http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2125 Also for UI, there is nothing better than http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1063937&hl=darnified There is http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1056342 for other great ideas.

FOOK2 is perhaps the best mod which adds new weapons and armor.

Weapon Mod Kits is fun, and there's a compatibility patch for FOOK2. Unfortunately, there aren't many weapons added by FOOK2 that have been completely integrated, but some is better than none.

Phalanx is a pretty cool companion mod.

Fellout makes for a better environment.

Alternate Start is a cool mod. Allows you to pick a history and job for your character.

Sniper Zooming makes the game a lot more fun, especially with WMK. You can add scopes to most of the weapons and scopes are more helpful.

Ammo Bench is a cool mod which gives you the ability to create your own ammo.

Ok, this is the list for a challenge and who do not want an all in one package so you can pick and choose like a buffet.

Get these in order-

Keep those ones you have.

Add a nvde mod for realism. Obviously I can't link and won't but the ones with all the texture packs (at least most) are
Malo's plus his pitt / point look out fix. Covers raiders, tribals, pitt folk, and amazingly even the ghouls 0_0
Exnem has these minus the ghouls. BUT, he DOES have a fix for the raiders in the MMM mod which corrects those textures. Also the DLC Armor pack has the point lookout AND the Pitt textures. Its stupid he doesn't mention this but they are in there. That will save you time looking.

Next, as mentioned get and install these in this order.
DarnifiedUI (right here in this forum. Look up his thread.) Now get Real Injuries. Get Primary Needs. Then go to the Real Injuries patch page and grab those. Then go get the Darn UI for Primary Needs. That will give you realistic (for FO3 at least) and some Mccgyver style medical options in game. It will also greatly improve the visual quality of your game.

After you work out the bugs in your load order (read the Primary Needs patch readme and be sure to follow the order I gave you. It will help immensely as its written as if you were following each update). Get Arwen's Tweaks. Use the module version. Its easier to track bugs here and there in case you also do not want every aspect of her mods. Kinda why she's nice enough to make them that way for us =)

Then for some visual goodies with laser/energy weapons. Try EVE.

After that just make up whatever list you want. But those are the basics. Try also Enhanced Blood and lookup a modder in the nexus name 4Aces. Those are the texture mods if you have a powerful machine. If not just use the blood. Makes it look pretty nice.
