Recommend me some N64 games.

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:57 am

I dug up the good ol' Nintendo 64 and am currently within driving distance of a godlike hock shop with any retro game a die hard retro gaming fan like myself could ever want :nerd:. So BGSF recommend me some games! :hehe:

P.S. I'm bracing myself for the onslaught of Ocarina of Time, Golden Eye, Pokemon Snap, Super Mario 64, Smash Bros, and Turok recommendations. <_<

Bonus: SNES games are also acceptable. :tops:

Of course Ocarina of Time, Golden Eye, Pokemon Snap, Super Mario 64, Smash Bros, and Turok (I do have some attachment to this, due to this game being my first bloody game after MK)

I also suggest:
  • Majora's Mask
  • Banjo Kazooie
  • Banjo Tooie
  • DK 64
  • Goldeneye
  • F-Zero X
  • Starwars Pod Racer
  • Mario Kart
  • Diddy Kong Racing
  • Kirby 64
  • Star Fox 64
  • Mario Tennis
  • Mario Golf
  • 1080
  • Mario Party (any iteration, though 2 was better than 1)

Glover

I play this game once a year with my cousins. It doesn't take long before we rage-quit.

It's been years, and we're only like 30% done with the game

Ogre Battle 64, if you can find it. Rare as heck but awesome. Harvest Moon 64 is also awesome too. Virtual farming was fun before Farmville! (not that I would know, I'm just assuming because of the popularity of Farmville that that is fun now too?)

WAVE RACE! lol

Hexen... the Turoks (2 with the booster pack) and I always, for some reason, liked Armorines... I thought it was a gem. I believe I even wrote some fanfic for it. I wonder if that's still in my parents' loft or something. Might go check it out.

Seconded. Classic. Heh ha. Thanks for reminding me! Great arenas on that game. That and Mace: The Dark Age, I loved those two fighters. Nobody else did so I didn't get to whup many people, but still... heh ha, class. I seem to remember on Mace when you pulled off a certain combo it said "Ironic!" despite there being no irony at all. They must have just run out of words to use to make you feel good when you pulled off a big combo. "Brilliant!" "Brutal!" "iiirrronic!" Meh.

Megaman 64
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask (actually find it superior)
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Star Fox 64
Harvest Moon 64
Road Rash 64
The first 2 Turok games (rage wars was meh)

Those are my faves.

Most have already been suggested, but count it as me seconding them if so. Here's my list:
  • Banjo-Kazooie
  • Goldeneye (esp. if you can do multiplayer with friends)
  • Diddy Kong Racing (don't be fooled by its cutesy exterior; this is a huge, challenging, masterfully designed game)
  • Killer Instinct Gold
  • Blast Corps (obscure title with unusual gameplay, but insanely fun and challenging once you get into it)

Man, there was some serious quality on that platform.

I third this. I loved BIO FREAKS and Mace: The Dark Age.

I'd also recommend Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub Zero. If nothing else to experience how ridiculously frustrating that game is.

If I recall Quest 64 was a pretty decent game if you're into turn based RPG's.

Everything else I would recommend has been mentioned :spotted owl:
