Today I came to the sad realisation that my dear old netbook is getting on in years (I've had it for 5 in fact), and I've been thinking about getting myself a tablet to use instead. I've considered products like the new Surface Pro 3, which while pricey, does offer a nice tablet/laptop midway point. However, I figured I'd get the recommendations of the more tech-savy amongst us here.

Essentially I'm looking for a tablet (NOT AN IPAD) that can serve as a suitable device to do office/study work on. I've been looking at things like the Shield and Edge (when/if they make their way down here) for the supposed gaming possibilities they also bring to the table, but honestly I'm not sure if that's just a gimmick more than anything. The ability to place the occasional game would certainly be appreciated, but it's not totally essential.

So basically, me has the dumbs with tablets, so I'm looking for recommendations and advice that any tablet-owners may have.
