Recommended Mods for my Oblivion Comeback!

Post » Sun Apr 24, 2011 6:04 pm

So after playing Daggerfall, then Morrowind, now getting back to Oblivion, I was wondering which mods should I download in order to get my experience good.
I would like to get pointed to mods that: Make the game more immersive, add some neat features (like surrendering opponets, forgotten the mods' name) big and detailed quests\locations, interesting new faction mods, like Dark Brotherhood revamps, kind of Dwemer Glider (Morrowind :P), improvements to the AI by adding neat stuff and anything else enjoyable.

Thanks for your suggestions in advance!
EDIT: Also I would like to learn something about mods that improve combat\injury\general realism :)
EDIT2: And mods that also improve player housing.

Its almost out of Beta= Duke Patricks Combat Magic will be an excelent addition to your game, as it totally revamps magic combat.

Another Mod I have been DYING to have is ARES! Its almost out (god I hope so) as it would be so awesome and add excitement to random adventure loot and encounters.

I don't really want to write a long list but I strongly suggest you check out Arwins writeup.

http://amito.freehostia.com/Oblivion/OB-mods.htm

She has many good mods linked.

I use Natural Hunger instead of Real Hunger since I think it's more realistic but most of her linked mods are great. Battle Fatigue and Injuries is a good mod as well that she doesn't list. For the rest I recommend just reading her list and deciding what you want.

I know Arwen's list but it doesn't include everything that fellow Oblivion players may use(d), so that's why I'm asking :)

I will recommend Race Balancing Project (RBP),LAME as part of your magic overhaul and Integration-The Stranded Light for quests that are Lore friendly and the ability to actually take advantage of Persuasion as a skill.
Elsweyr, The Deserts of Anequina adds Elsweyr as a playable region with new quests and races.
I use RBP as my main cosmetic and race mod.
My favorite modded home in Oblivion is the Cobl version of Shadowcrest Vinyard, by Korana.

If you want any further help I suggest you tell us about yourself; what you like and what you're looking for... Here's some questions to get you started:

Have you played Oblivion already?
What sort of things interest you?
What type of Character do you usually play? (good/evil, theif/mage, roleplayer/random-no-story-hack-and-slasher?)
Are there specific types of mods you think would interest you? (Quests, graphic mods, gameplay mods, overhauls, etc.)
When did you leave?
What did you not like about Oblivion? What did Oblivion not have or need more of?
Male or female character?

For the occasional "What are your must haves?"
Mostly quest mods: http://kno.li/i

I'm mostly a quest mod player and I recently posted a big rundown for most of them that I've playedhttp://thenexusforums.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=157600&view=findpost&p=1349075 and http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=924363&topic=51137901.

I would post more since you actually bothered to give some details about yourself, and what you're looking for, but I'm feeling pretty tired right now, and someone beat me to my usual Integration suggestion (80+ quests, 4-5 guilds, 24+ hours of silent dialogue, unique and interesting gameplay, etc.) lol.

EDIT: The surrendering mod is NPCs yield, and/or Vows and Covenants. The NPCs yield mod was originally made as like an add on to V&Cs surrendering mechanic, but since then V&C hasn't got many updates while NPCs yield has continued on, so NPCs yield has the formula down better, but Vows and covenants has some extended implementation into gameplay... I think you can still use both together.

Dark brotherhood stuff:
Better dark brotherhood sanctuary
Dark brotherhood renewed
Dark brotherhood continued
There's a number of mediocre short assassination quest mods that focus on extending the Brotherhood a little.
JQ's Assassin quest offers some unrelated assassination fun, and it's pretty high quality.

Dwemer:
Dwemer railroad
Dwemer sky ship (has a parachute/glider type thing too)
