Recommended peripherals (Mouse, Keyboard, Keypad)

Post » Fri Mar 01, 2013 12:20 am

Forum members,

Officially made the jump from console to PC and looking for some strong recommendations on peripherals. After hours - too many to count - of research I just can't make up my mind. Here's some ground rules though:

1. My budget is $150
2. I'm not necessarily looking to start a brand war here. Logitech, Razer, Corsair,
Steelseries...makes no difference to me. I just want sound recommendations on peripherals that
will make my gaming experience even better.

My question(s):

1. Mouse: Can anyone recommend a good entry-level gaming mouse? I prefer lazer over optical, and, would be curious as to how many customizable buttons are preferred for FPS.
2. Keyboard/pad: With so many options out there, am I better off going with a customizable keyboard, or, one of the few keypads out there?

Thanks,
sbm

Bump

Really? 17 reads and not a single reply? Does this mean no fellow Crysis players are willing to offer recommendations? Or, does you play with standard fair - keyboard and mouse?

1- Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 <- Extremly cheap and considered the best mouse ever by many players

2- Steelseries 6gv2 <- Can press all keys at once without getting key locked and as any other mechanical keyboard it kicks ass.

They are not fancy, but who cares about that when they are just awesome at what they do.

1) - Steelseries Kinzu (I'm not sure if optical or laser) is cool entry level mouse
2) - Steelseries 6Gv2

Anyone out there have comments about the Razer Nostromo?

I do a lot of sim racing, and, like the idea of a detached gamepad that can double as a button box. So, if the Nostromo helps with FPS as well I'd have a double win on my hands.

I know this may sound weird to most people because its a mmo mouse but about 2 years ago i got a razer naga and havent been able to get used to anything else. Albeit the 12 side buttons are very excessive but for about the 6 i do use for nanovision, switching weapons, grenade, zoom, calling in support etc.. i find it very useful.

I use a generic keyboard and a Logitech G9x, it's a good mouse, very comfortable to use, but it has 2 small problems: 1) The mouse wheel can be used as a button, but it's a bit too stiff, and 2) I wish it had 2 more buttons, 2 side buttons are a bit too limited.
