recommended polygon reducer

Hello,

as I play Oblivion on a low-end machine, I'm trying to optimize it as much as possible; for this reason, I try to install the best mods/optimizers that increase performance without compromising too much on quality.

I've already installed Streamline, LowPolyGrass, LowPolyTrees, Optimised Distant Land and I'm quite satisfied about the results; now, I'd like to install something reducing superfluos polygons/meshes and apparently these are the best ones around:

- Oblivion PolyGone Overhaul
- fps Poly Gone Ext
- PYFFI Optimized QTP3 Meshes - Fixed

Do you know/use any of these? As I'm afraid they risk to conflict among them, which one would you better recommend me to install?

Oblivion PolyGone is too old and not recommended, and the QTP3 meshes are going to cause a performance decrease, even if they are PyFFied they will be bigger and more straining than the vanilla ones.

Consider installing PyFFi, unpacking your Oblivion - Meshes.bsa and DLCShiveringIsles - Meshes.bsa files into the PyFFi toaster utility, run PyFFi on them (takes a LONG time with 100% CPU usage but is worth it), and finally repackage the pyffied results with no compression and replace your original bsas with them (make backups). I got the greatest performance boost from that.

Actually, no, the QTP3 meshes are identical in size to the originals. Only the parallax flag was toggled on those. So running them through PyFFI is just as effective as doing it to the vanilla stuff. It should definitely be done in addition to optimizing all of the vanilla meshes.
