Highly recommended should be the 5000 series for ATI and the 400 series for Nvidia. Anyway, Crytek did say that they have not finalize the specs yet.

BS in it's entirety. The hd5870 would be the equivalent to the gtx560Ti (in fact, it exactly is, bar about 5% in favour of the hd5870), no first person shooter needs a 3GHz i7 for 30fps and 1.8GB of vRAM? Really?

That sounds like complete BS to me. A 4870/280 getting 30 fps at 1680x1050 in DX9!?!?!?

ROFL. That is a bad fake, they could atleast make the fake a bit more realistic.

I think that the very high end gpu's are in the right ball park (although obviously a hd5870, not a hd4870x2) though. I think for max (not necessarily including AA) @ 30fps on dx11 you will need a gtx560/hd5870 as a minimum.

"GTX560Ti / HD4870 X2, 1.8GB Video Memory"

That must mean SLI 560TI's because a single card has only 1GB of RAM.

So (GTX560TI or HD4870)x2 (at least 1.8GB Video Memory)

Which would make more sense to be paired with an I7 at 3GHZ also. Can't see Nvidia stumping up 2 million to pump into a cpu heavy game that will only sell budget cards to I7 owners can you? But then again it seems odd given Nvidias reported financial stake in the game having a 560 compared to an AMD which is probably if anything slightly or perhaps based on more recent benchmarks more than slightly inferior.

all of this hardware talk confuses me. Can i simply ask this: Is crysis 2 need much more power than crysis 1 did or are they relatively close?

More informative:

"Cry-Adam is playing Crysis 2 on

PC

i5 750 @ 3.5GHz
P55A-UD4 + 4GB 1333MHz
Gigabyte GTX580"

Draw your own conclusions here but it looks like 4GB and a fairly well balanced set up GPU to CPU I7 not included.

That looks pretty much what i expect will run the game extremely well.

Essentially, it'll be about the same as crysis 1, but the very highest will need an extra bit more 'oomph' this time. So you'll be wanting a hd5870/gtx560 and above.

Dude the only game that makes an i7 note worthy is Arma II, I bet if you go on that website and look at the advertisments youll get a good idea of why they "suggested" those specs.

No conclusions to be drawn from that, haha. That's just my personal system which i play many games on.

Unless you see the recommended specs posted here on gamesas then take it with a grain of salt ;)

Doubt theres a need for an i7 especially since this crysis is more "compact" in level design, GTX 590? does that even exist yet? lol

I agree ^^

I really can't see any game recommending a Core i7 for at least a year or two. I am willing to be convinced though in regards to the CryEngine 3 - techniques like real-time deformation may be very CPU intensive.

I'm hoping to get away with my 965BE at 3.4ghz stock speed. But since it's an AMD board I could upgrade to go to a 1100T if needed for under £200 on my same board. Although I think I'd rather wait a while longer B4 my next upgrade though even if it means low fps or resolution in C2 for a while.

I highly doubt those are considered recommended. Crysis 1 & Crysis 2 will be different in frames per second wise.

Crysis 1 was power hungry because of the amount of details were put in the trees, grass & plants. This time, it's a lot more different. The amount of stuff won't be up on all your face, so Crysis 2 won't be as demanding as Crysis 1.

You can easily tell by the amount of open space you have in Crysis 2. Crysis 2 can only make it GPU hungry if they put a lot of details into the building, explosions and lighting effects. Other than that, it won't be a powerhouse Crysis 1 was.

I was joking around. The i7 990 is over $1000 and the GTX 590 still has yet to be released. ^-^

I think you would get an Upper hand having more then one core. I think Crysis 2 will really be befitting from Quad Cores.
