Recovering the stones of Berenzias?

Post » Fri Feb 14, 2014 9:38 pm

Hi again

Trying to recover the stones of Berenzias to complete “No Stone Unturned” mission. Am I right in thinking that they are all in the Thalmor Embassy?

Went back there and fought off about 10 soldiers, justiciers, wizards etc outside but couldn’t get into the main building without a key. Went in the barracks and found 1/24 stones, then tried to kill sleeping guards and all hell breaks loose. I’ve tried to get through it about 4 times no but no joy.

Do I need to kill them to gain access to the main building or is there another way in to get the stones?

Thanks

No, the stones are scattered at several locations all around Skyrim.

Those stones are scattered around Skyrim.

You have to join every guild if you want to find all the stones.

By the time you have found all the stones you will be so rich that you won't know what to do with your money and the reward will be pointless.

There is no stone at all in the Embassy unless your game is unpatched - v1.4 of the official patch moved the one that was originally there to another related location that was still accessible even when you were locked out of the Embassy (which is why they moved it, since without console commands or glitches the stone itself was originally questlocked by the MQ). There's no reason to go in there just for the gem.

Each of the other gems is located in some other location, there are no quest markers for them in vanilla so you'll just have to look for them or else look up their locations here:

Since I am playing a thief this go around who I used Barenziah as a model for her, I am collecting all the stones. MOST can be found easily enough as a thief in people's homes and such. Some though are scattered in remote areas a simple thief might not just find herself in.

The only two that require joining a guild are in the college of Winterhold and the Dark Brotherhood. You can get the one in Jorrvaskr without joining. You can also get the Dark Brotherhood's one by destroying them.

I've never been this close to collecting them before. My thief has 22 of 24. One is in the Dark Brotherhood and the other Pinewatch which she will get to when doing a job for Delvin. Just seeing the completed crown will be enough of a reward for me.

I need to start picking these things up, as I recently learned thest quest items are weightless. I've never obtained all 24 stones.

You seem like you would have alot of fun tracking them down for yourself. I wish you luck Harry. :D

If you are playing on pc there is a mod which gives you map markers to all of them.

Hi

Thanks for advice. Will probably take a rain check on gems . Not really sure if I got patch but really want to kill these Elves anyway. I've tried hit and run, flames, shouts etc but can't seem to get through them. I'm guessing you have to run upstairs in the Barracks or run outisde and then recharge to finish them all off?

If I do kill all of them would one of their bodies give me the key to the Embassy as it requires a key? I want to search it anyway to see if the gem is on the second floor to see whether I have the patch.

Thanks again

Simon

The Thalmor Embassy is part of

Spoiler
the main quest
which is why it requires a key.

Try the cave first, it'd be easier and they do not drop the key.

If you did the diplomatic immunity quest, you can not re-enter the embassy, hence the move of the gem to the cave (so those that missed it the first time can still get it)

If you are on PC, it should be updated through steam already if set to standard settings when installed (auto-update). Consoles on the other hand require you to connect to the net and update through a download (not sure if it's automatic or you have to do it manually... pure PC player here).

Hi

I am playing on xbox 360. Yes, have done Diplomatic Immunity so can't re-enter. I will try Cave but if it's not there then it could be double whammy: No patch, and can't get into Embassy!!

Happy days.

Thanks

Simon

Its to bad they moved the one in the embassy but not the two requiring you join the college or the Dark brotherhood. If your on the PC you can actually get the college one without joining. tab out of a conversation with whats her name at the entrance of the bridge. Go to the locked gate that requires a key and bring up the console command window. click on the gate for the ID and then enter unlock. Now the gate is unlocked. Do the same to gain entrance to the arch mage's room and the stone of Barenziah is yours.

Unfortunately the Dark Brotherhood door is not so simple. It does require knowing the password to enter.

After 379 game hours Sir.

And 14 stones.

I finally gave in.

Installed a mod.

Went after the remainder.

Collected.

Rewarded.

Frustrated.

However. My character is a female.

Lost 10 stones in 3 seconds.

Like Atkins for the age of yore.

Finally broke down and did this to its completion. Can't say the rewards were overwhelming. Biggest disappointment for me was that it is not a wearable item, just another piece of statuary....

Does that mean I have to join the Vampires to get one of the Stones?

Suggestion - don't pick any of them up unless you're planning to pick all of them up. They may not weigh anything, but they still clutter your inventory screen and make it a real pain to scroll through when you've gotten a bunch of them. Also, when you pick the first one up you'll automatically get a new quest in your journal that can't be cleared until you've gotten all of them.

It's a vanilla game quest. Volkihar vampires is part of Danwguard DLC.
So No, you do not have to join the vampires. :)

No, just vanilla guilds - College of Winterhold, Companions, Dark Brotherhood (you can still get the stone if you choose to wipe them out though), Thieves Guild.
